yeah, i’m in at this stage.

but i could run out of money / have an injury, or Get a better offer by the 1st of October.

making it difficult to attend your ride.

maybe i should have said the end of oct.

    anyway i’m in for now!

steel plug in alloy will only cause problems if you cross thread it.

the only thing i can think is if you use an ordinary bolt you will need to use a copper washer to give a proper seal.

if you like i’ll PM you my post address, send the old one to me and i’ll have a crack at fixing it.

if that fails making a new one.

would a steel bolt the same tread size and pitch and of the same length do the same job?

dose the drain plug have any special recess on the filter side?

i’m guessing it’s alloy only to save weight? bugger all but 10g here and there adds up i suppose.

have you tried to see if a normal bolt will fit the filler thread, just to see if anything else will fit?

just a thought to ( TRY) and help.:(

    hey Shane,

can you take the old plug to a nut and bolt shop and get something in the same thread and length?

it’d be metric i guess. cant be that hard to get one.??? but then it might not be.

    just a thought.

did i read in one of your posts that the filler is the same thread? or am i dreaming again:blush:

how dose it perform? what can you compare it to? i.e. what have you ridden and how dose it stack up?

have you heard of XR’s only? and JE pistons?

    Al Baker’s XR’s only

they do 629cc/100mm – 654cc/102mm kits for the 600’s. around the US$200 mark.

there are loads of yank sites/ builders use the JE stuff, but i have not heard of any experience out here.

    Thanks Ollie!,

i loved the katie 300! on the rear wheel for first 3 gears;) and it could top out at 148km/h with a heifer lump like me on it:lol: but funny thing is it was no quicker top speed with my bro who is 1/2 my size! ?

but when you get Shafted by the dealer it leaves a lasting bitter taste in your mouth:angry:

ktm were rumoured to be going oil injected like the honda CRM 250. but i have not heard any more about it.

anyway i’ll remain faithful to my first Katie until then.

    Hey ollie,

the gasser is still oil/ fuel premix, is it not?

do they still run a ceramic cylinder bore?

the only way i’ll go back to a 2banga is if it’s self mix/injected.
