    the Scrutineer ?

    Scrutineer:

    “From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In general, a scrutineer is a person who observes any process which requires rigorous oversight, either to prevent the occurrence of corruption or genuine mistakes. It is most commonly known as part of voting in an election, where the scrutineer observes the counting of ballot papers, in order to check that election rules are followed. There are other uses of the concept, such as in motorsport, when a scrutineer is responsible for ensuring that vehicles meet the technical regulations.”

hey Menace, i just copy n pasted to the Yamaha IT forum in a thread someone was asking similar Q?’s for an IT. hopefully someone has some answers.

the only issue one member found was that the TMX was slightly shorter and had to make a spacer tube. but i dunno what differences there are between IT and YZ dimensions.

the only other remark was that they would be better off looking at the TM over the TMX, but no reason as to why…

here is a chart someone posted.

    Mikunijetneeles.jpg

i have it in pdf form that is much clearer to read. if you want it pm ya email n i’ll send it. ;)

    thanks for the manual Moto.

    3CJ = 88/89

i didn’t pursue the Yama hate (how i first read it  ) as when i looked you had to join to get past the basics. and thought it to be an IT based site. not knowing they had designated YZ and DT sections.

i’ll buy you a beer Axel in lou of the thanks button ;) :P

once i’m on the lower mid? coast and settled in next year some time. and you can make it down for a ride. Batemans bay area anyway.

    thanks Axel ;)

    and Moto, for trying.

Axel do you know what changes were made to the engines etc. of these bikes. as in interchangeable parts?

one site that listed wossner std. and oversize pistons stated that they fit all DT 200 models.

another listed conrod kits but there were different manufacturers and had different notes on what year model their kits fitted, but others said fits all years.

but mainly wondering about cases, clutch packs, reeds etc. that kind of stuff.

one chinese seller on ebay us had a ‘stainless steel’ piston  :pinch: translation is a laugh at times. :P

the speedo stopped at 34something000km

so i’m guessing the old girl would have had a piston and rings at least in her life time.

what would i premix at? some sites with members owning DT’s say 40:1… sound about right?

thanks again for the input to date. it’s been very helpful.

thanks Moto, but as far as i can work out going by pics on the net. it’s an 89-91/2.

engine number search on the web proved in vain.

84-85 had the pipe out the opposite side. and drum rear brake.
    http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/yamaha/yamaha_dt200r%2084.htm

    86-87
    http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/yamaha/yamaha_dt200r%2086.htm

88-89 states rear drum but shows pics with rear disc. but pipe now out the r/h side. correct colour scheme.
    http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/yamaha/yamaha_dt200r%2088.htm

90-91 shows a nice pink and white DT200WR model with USD
    http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/yamaha/yamaha_dt200r%2090.htm

92-? shows an increase in displacement to 199 via an increase to bore size. and addition of USD forks.

    http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/yamaha/yamaha_dt200wr%2092.htm

then this site jumps to the 230

interesting in the list there is a DT 125 Tenere

i don’t know how accurate the site is. but it’s the best i’ve been able to find to date.

it is a wire that goes from/ to the CDI unit. it is to do with the ignition mapping.

later bikes have a bar mounted switch to swap from ‘performance’ if you like to slow and steady hill/ mud and the like.

i don’t know what the difference is exactly. some do not find that much of a difference and either choose to set up with one or the other i.e. they break the pink wire circuit via either cutting it/ or i think from memory it is grounded and they simply un ground it and tape up the end an tie it to the frame. or it is un grounded and they ground it to the frame.

others choose to put a switch in it. some models have it available as an accessory .

hopefully the CRF guys will help out on the finer points that are not clear in the above. and correct what i’ve not got right. ;) as usual B)

correct me if i’m wrong. did the GP bikes going away from 2T have a bearing on 4T engine development?

i have a vague memory that there was a capacity/cylinder restrictions on 2T running in the same class as 4T ruling, similar to what was implemented in MX some years later. ?

    no worries Aido.

the reference to friday was if you came up after work and you arrived in daylight. be daylight saving by then, won’t it?

and i was only yanking ya chain about changing bikes.

didn’t mean to offend :( sorry if i did!

i never intended in any way to make light of your injury. i tried to plan for as late in Oct. as i could seeing you mentioned that would be around the soonest you’d be looking at getting back on the dirt.

if the majority are only able to do a day trip for this ride. i will organise accom near whitesle and do a day at Kinglake/ Mt Disappointment.

virtually no 2T smoke or smell… no 2T smell? what’s the point of that? :P

i would have thought just going to EFI through the case would have cleaned up emissions if sprayed when the exhaust port was closed but still on the intake stroke.

other than that the ski-do would be much simpler than an oil pump/ wet crank 2T…. right?

the e-tec is a similar set up to the omnivore.

ski doo please make us a 300cc version of your e-tec.. twin cylinders is fine.. well by me anyway .

Yeah, thanks Moto. PE no way. IT maybe.

Way too optimistic thinking anyone’s wife will ride a DT200 happily. DT175 maybe. TTR250 a stretch.

why is that Axel? just out of curiosity.

i thought Moto said an EXC200 would be a stretch for a beginner.

jodie has had a YZ 125 and DR 250 in the past. her biggest concern with a bike is it suited to a height deprived  :pinch:    person.

which leads to a Q? i forgot to ask in the opening post.

lowering link etc. availability? or do i look for platform riding boots? :P

going by the cut away of the engine the plan looks like to have the injector and spark plug both in the head.

which means there would have to be some way of lubing the big end if not via the intake port/charge.

    the Ossa 280 has a 4T sized/shape header pipe.

    thanks Moto.

i haven’t been game to post how much i won it at. until i physically see it and try to start it. they said it runs fine. but one person’s fine is another’s ordinary.

the bike was a shade under $610.00

cost to travel is all but irrelevant as i would have to travel to get a bike like this regardless. because of my current location.

and Moto, if you are looking, get onto Boony and the Tamworths. i spotted a 175 something on gumtree i think it was, just south of tamworth at a reasonable price. see if they have heard of it for sale. or seen local ads for it.
