    my $0.002 worth.

XR650L not as capable as a KTM 640. and well out of production. and wasn’t as well equipped as the 640.

i’d lean toward a 640, 660 or 690 adventure but i am a biased KTM owner/lover. but in your case i’d suggest a later model 640/660 carb model Kato.

if honda i’d lean toward XR650R a totally different bike than the L in my opinion.

but there are 650R owners that have Yammy 660 ADV bikes for a reason. so they are worth a look.

basically i advise anyone looking at a bike style/ brand change to get a decent ride in the terrane you wish to use the bike for and as many different ones as you can.

there is a member that has a Suzy V storm and the pics i have seen, it looks like a capable bike.

i liked the ergos and seating position of the 995 Triumph Tiger but i didn’t get to do any dirt time on it, at 215-220kg feel it would be a little too heavy in the tight going.

as everyone else though it comes down to budget and personal preference.

but newer the better, and preferably a bike still in production or not too long out of production so spares and accessories are available.

the cars they were towing their bikes with suggested High income owners. therefore the cost of rego would not have been the problem..

i think they found their crop, sampled some for quality control and while the world was spinning they got disoriented.

they were none too happy to see the law, SES team and the news crew waiting for them at the parking spot.

after being questioned by the plod they took off in haste.

i found a lantern and sure enough when i rubbed it a genie pops out. he said he’d grant me one wish.

so i requested that my knob would reach the ground…….

now my legs are 3 inches long.

yeah i sure do at the moment Aido. i’d be out riding in the mud, but with only 40 fun tickets in the jar for the next fortnight after buying some upgraded medical equipment means i won’t be going far for a week or two.

just as well bench racing is free. :woohoo:

and with my TIG dying Tuesday i cant finish of the rust repair of an XC guard for a family friend P plater for road worthy. i’m lacking motivation to venture out into the gloom to see what i can turn my hand to to bide the time.

the V8 coverage doesn’t start until some time after 1pm. so i’m bored out of my brai….. um skull.. :P

you can borrow my bike until you can get a look at the new W recked R ide :P

Go with something totally different Aido.

    get a Maico 700 ;)

no one will give you grief about the way you ride or your choice of bike.

all you have to say is, ” do you have the ‘big ends’ to buy and ride a 700 2T?!. when you do, then you can give me grief! :P“.

    👿

or just go mental and build something like an Aprilia/RGV/ 2T twin into a an alloy framed dirt bike. and when they ask WHY?!?! just twitch and say “Cos i can, can your dirt bike do a dollar sixty five down the free way?? on knobbies? well can it?? huh?”. and i’m sure they’ll leave you alone for sure.

    :P :P

hmph… the Kato rider’s green slip will no doubt cover the other at fault rider’s expenses…

TB as for a pic of an injured rider being posted…….. if it’s a genuine accident well yes we feel the pain of a fallen fellow rider.

however if it’s at the stupidity of the on on the ground in agony by poor choices….. well suffer in his Jocks i say.

the only thing the at fault rider can be thankful for is he did not run under the likes of you on the 660 or i on k8ii, 300kg+ of mobile destruction.

the at fault rider’s family would be IDing him in the morgue :( and i’d have a new boyfriend  named lefty or something for vehicular manslaughter.

hmmm was the broken pelvis from the impact? or the Kato owner body slamming the … the…. the… hmmm every insult i can think of is an insult to the drongo, idiot, dropkick, knobs of the world …

is the Kato rider ok? hopefully only a few bruises, minor injuries!

if so that will be a lesson for him for riding on knobs on the black top….. :woohoo: :cheer: sorry i couldn’t help myself.

how badly injured was the Kato?

did you take the pic? or was it the rider? he shoulda pinched the pit bike owner’s wallet…… then again the address would have only been to a housing commission place no doubt, with little of value anyway. so no point turning up hoping to claim some goods to be sold for a down payment on the repairs …

maybe the pit bike rider needs to spend a night playing monopoly with nickJ’s uncle!!! :P fitting punishment? maybe

if you can’t roost em join em aye?

couldn’t take being roosted by the slowest, least capable rider and just had to make sure id doesn’t happen again?

a new bike is always a good thing, a faster bike is a better thing. an orange one is the best thing. ;)

i have thought of trading my hefferlump for a smaller version, but just can’t afford or justify it. so i’ll just have to practice, practice, practice.

i’ve just done this to a tyre on my sister’s ride on mower, tubless rear.

all i could find was some supermarket brand insect repellent and a box of matchs.

it beaded the tyre well. but as soon as the tyre was beaded, you could see it shrink / loose pressure almost straight away. but it left enough pressure in it to inflate it properly with the compressor.

i don’t know if you left it sit long enough after getting the bead sealed, as to how much pressure it would loose or if it would go flat again all together.

thanks youtube and DRool, for giving me another skill ;)
