glad it all worked out well.
as is the common thought with it was that it’s not impossible to bend the forks, but if most things on the bike look ok, have a bit of a fiddle as it most likely cost you your time. then if it still feels out of sorts do what you did, pull all the related parts out and check them over. reassemble , then if it’s not right take it to a shop.
maybe the ‘looks bent’ was from his vision being distorted through $$$ signs
 :cheer:
dunno Jimmy, check out thumper talk.

there is some talk over there of extra stress on crank bearings etc.
then there seems to be reliability issues.
some research for you and some careful thinking… ask around any you know that have or mod/race/ride the 450x. those you race with etc.
hey Scotty, is that number plate legal like that??
:cheer: :silly:
i’m not sure if you would have bent the actual forks, maybe more likely that the triple clamps have moved out of alignment and the front wheel is not tracking quite true.
the bars may also be slightly bent adding to the odd feel. one of the forks may have moved up in the triple clamps just enough to make the axle be out of alignment /square to the forks.
you’ll have to let us know what they find at the shop…. hopefully it’s something as simple as i’ve mentioned…
brass coloured metal shavings will most likely be normal steel, but because they were hot and in sump oil they will have burnished to a brass colour.
where the metal has come from will only be known once you strip it down.
CRF’s only have std crank $281.15 and stroker crank $376.15 . dunno on post though.
if the crank it’s self is good. a rod and bearing kits aren’t over the top either. as rocket said coin for spanner time is the biggest cost factor.

grant has the plate to mark the mounting holes and where it need to be modded to fit it up, around the drain plug in the bottom of the frame etc.
once finished i’ll post up pics of it on the XR.

I got a new stick deodorant today. The instructions said: Remove cap and push up bottom. I can barely walk,
but whenever I fart the room smells lovely..
i’m pretty good at wreckin stuff…
oh i guess that’s not exactly what you’re after…
are you after modern bike parts? older bike parts?
JDK Motorcycle Wreckers (02) 6658 2299 15 Newcastle Drv Toormina NSW 2452 http://www.jdk.com.au
seem to know their stuff. but like most wreckers expect to pay approx 1/2 new price.
the thermo switch in my 640 had died between my trading it and getting her back.
i used a mount on thermo switch from Jaycar/Altronics. they had 60,70? 80 and 90ยบ variants for around $10-15ea from memory. it works as it should.
so if you go to fit a fan and don’t have the bung to fit the proper KTM style screw in ones.
you can use the same as i did.
and a tip for mounting switches and the like. most auto electrical stuff switch the earth/ground, meaning the power to the fan is on as long as the key is on and they turn the ground on and off.
i sent one up to Micknmeld with a bracket and fan for his BRP….. but can’ta been any good
hmmm more area per capita available for Drinking than Riding…..
so to my way of thinking, those with the powers are more involved in drinking than riding bikes… or doing much in the way of being constructive for that matter…
does that sound about right?
Yep 100% true Scotty.
if they can afford any bike worth over $2.5-3000, i reckon they can afford to register it too!
now i know i’m not on the lowest income around( and living costs are meagre while allowing my folks to share their home with me  :pinch: ), but as a Disability Support Pensioner i can budget $150/month to allow me to register 1 car( albeit free RTA costs) but in saying that the CTP and TPP-fire n theft was $600+. 1 bike at around the cost as the car, and by the end of the year hopefully my much neglected Monster.
Scotty what’s the legalities of my thoughts on riding on crown land?? = making a ST sorta loop idea in some of the trees along side the main roads.
