with the 640 as a guide it suggests having it on the stand, and have about 30-40mm of chain touching the bottom of the swing arm, just back from the front/ pivot point, when you push it up with your fingers. and i also sit on the bike afterward and do the guitar string test as Axel suggests;)

 :cheer: ;) 😆 that’s the conclusion i’d come to as well, by the time i got back to the van.

a big bike and a heavy rider was what i thought was most of the difference between the other rider/bike combos and I 😆

the rear was the one i used the motul brand compressor in a can on ;)

yeah thanks TB, i was going to ring Suttos’ thursday.

that is something i’ll make sure of Mick when the tubes turn up and i fit them ;)

now that you have reminded me, the first flat could have been caused by a broken spoke.

however i got a flat with the front at Wombat last December and just assumes it was a pinch flat, as i could not find anything in the tyre or rim when i replaced the tube..

well i wasn’t running heavy duty tubes, the first front flat was replaced with a Kenda heavy duty i was carrying, it was flat also by the time i got back to the van.. i ordered these over the phone, when they arrived i thought to my self they aren’t much better than a STD. tube..

i will be ordering some UHD tubes next pension day;) B)

    Well What a Weekend!!! B)

(i must save up and invest in a proper GPS)

i left Deni at about 11:30 am friday, and after a few stops to fuel and fill the radiator i finally arrived at Menace and Sam’s van to find Ranga, we chewed the fat for about 4 min until Menace and Sam turned up at around 9ish. i had aimed to arrive around the 5pm mark  (stupid phone GPS and going through Moe…….. twice  )

i blew out my brake booster about an hour out from Glenmaggie

    but arrive without incident.

Chop arrived to be met by a jester :silly: menace snapped a couple of pics of said jester on Chop’s Berg doing a superman. (they can’t have turned out real good as they’ve not been posted yet.)

Chop and i bunked in the same van, thanks Chop.

Chop was up at some unearthly hour (prob about 8am) and called out “Hey Drew, you need fuel or anything?, i’m off to the servo”.

got up, unloaded K8ii rode up to s&m’s van to be greeted with a coffee B) , then the day trippers rolled in and introductions.

we unloaded, geared up and set off.

out the c/p, across the road into some bush with berms and all, out to the lake shore, where i was the first to have an offsadaisy  in the soft deep sand, but all in s…l….o…w Mo. all was good.

then blacktopped it to an access road through the cows to the forest tracks.

did about 20km and found another XY hill, there was an XW or XY sedan shell resting along side the track, i thought how the hell did they get that in here, but did not have time to pull up and snap a pic.

this track wound to a Rocky Steep decent down, with foot high rock steps, at one point i had the forks almost fully compressed with the frond brake creaking and groaning  , thinking to my self here we go over the bars, but survived.

made our way along some more Grouse terrain to a camp ground where Menace, Marty1 and John helped ( did all the hard work ) to change the front tube. the pump i bought and tested at home decided to go on strike :( so Chop wondered over to the campers and asked if they had a 12v compressor. they let em pump up my tyre, refitted it and we set off to wind our way to the lunch spot.

hoed into some fantastic roast beef and gravy, Sam was thanked with thumbs up through the sound of lip licking and noises associated with feeding livestock  :P 😆 :P

refueled our bikes and agreed on the shortest route back to the vans, but not via the bitumin, like some (all the soft ones) :P wanted.
Menace was almost visibly disappointed at having to nurse his Kato home on the tar :( but happy he found out about the triple clamps being undone while stationary, as were the rest of us! just thinking what could have happened . we could have cared less that it was a minor oversight! we were far more concerned with Menace’s well being, i think Menace is doing enough of a job at kicking himself for any of us to point the finger!! how many rides have i done when i was way under prepared!! :S

i somehow punctured the rear :S i rode as far as i could manage, power sliding in a straight line  i thought better of it that try and limp all the way back to the cows paddock with K8ii squirming all over the place.

so i pulled up on a flat bit on a crest and set about removing the rear wheel when Ranga came back to see what i wanted to do, use his can of ‘zoost’, i said i think i’ve been riding on it flat too long for it to inflate the tyre and stay up long enough to ride the 30 or so km back to the vans.

plus i thought with my pump not working i would use the zoost to pump it up once back together , which is what we ended up doing. meanwhile Ranga set off after the main group, After reassuring me emphatically that He Would Return! :cheer: thanks Ranga!

by the time he made his way to the main group, informed them of the situation, and rode back to me, i was up to the point of refitting the tyre beads.

reassembled K8ii, and cruised back to the vans.

i Still Cannot Get Over HOW Much Roost you COP Off a Bald Tyre!!!   😆 😆

rolled into the c/p just in time to see Aido & Tim, Bill, Marty and John to head home.

we filled on the details and relived the highlights of the day.

having Menace recount how Bill’s Berg lobbing a rock up high up only to give Menace a Battered Sav :pinch:  😆 :silly: :cheer:

had a feed and settled into some snoring and intermittent conversation until Menace politely kicked me out 😆

we slept like logs by all accounts :)

the next morning we coffeed while i chewed Menace’s ear off  then thought it about time to make tracks by 2pm. i wondered home, stopping to fuel up and refill the radiator

made it home by 9pm, filled the folks in with the highlights.

then slept like a log once again all night..

Pics to come once i upload them..

THANKS to Menace as organiser, Sam as caterer, Pit crew, lollie and first aid kit provider, Chop for leading the ride and Ranga for sweeping B)
