hey TB could that front head bolt being corroded be a contributing factor?

Mick is there any corresponding corrosion on the head and or gasket?

just my $0.002 worth

your old 400 will be as tough as nails as it’s the LC4 range.(i believe be roller rockers like the big sister 600/620/640/660 and 690’s) the LC’s are a bit less fuss than the modern MX bred gene pool that’s about now.

i’m sure if you let suttos’ know you’re an old bull + the amount of coin you’re looking to invest, i’m sure they’ll look after you..

as far as i know the KTM 450 Quads are the same engine as the EXC/SX 450 trail bike. so buying spares and filters etc. you should get an alright price as you will be buying 4 or so at one time..

    well hope so anyway..

    good luck with it all!

    $2.50 a litre! think i’ll keep using PULP 95,

Don’t think I’d notice the difference other than in my wallet.

    i’ll buy a drum off you at $2.50 a liter ;)

by my calculations it’s $3.25/L

you can get 98 PULP at some servos now :side:

I know what you can get, the problem is do you want what they put in the 98 PULP.

I prefer not, that stuff is not designed for carburetored engines

oh ok. just making sure

what dose the 98 ron fuel do to carb etc.?

I will take a drum Scott (put one aside mate) I wont rubbish something till I try it. Why not will put it through the XR at Nundle maybe

    TB

hmmm TB just please make sure you don’t start it in thongs though

seeing it’ll be your recovered knee and all ;)

i did not intend to rubbish the fuel TB, just voicing my thoughts to cost:benefit. as it is 100 ron and you can get 98 ron for about 1/2 the price.

PLUS Scott said that postage stamps won’t stick to the drum….

(well he didn’t really, i just cannot drop in and pick up a drum, and the dangerous goods thing for freight makes it out of the question all together for the like of myself..)

What gets under my skin is all us bike riders being tared with hte same brush,

as being hoons, enviro killers, and louts.

all because of the minority of tools who think it’s their ‘right’ to do what they like. where they wish and without any thought of future use by other riders and those that use the same area other than just bikes.

    unreg riders!

and the insurance companies changing the capacity categories to get a bigger grab for the average blokes $$$

forgetting to prep the little things :S while on a ride with old bulls that you had time to do the days before the ride

and looking like a tool for it… :(

but as long as it’s not repeated in future rides i think all will be forgiven… Maybe.

    Hi Unit,

my $0.002 worth is the TE and CRF 450’s are much in the same boat as the EXC..

maybe ask some of the KTM guru’s of jetting changes you can make to the EXC to tame it down a little??

would it be possible to gear it up a few teeth so it’s not in the RPM power hit range? if that makes any sense. sort in the lugging torque RPM range rather than in the power range…
