    Mature riders? where? on here?

growing old is inevitable but growing up is optional  :P  :cheer: :silly: :silly:  :woohoo:

    welcome to the site!

i hope you find it easier as you find your way around!

post up in the ride gathering area when you will be riding, and those that think they can make it will put their hand up.

but there are few around your area :( but some do like to get to Batemans bay as much as they can.

have you ridden out around the Tumbarumba area? when my Sis. lived there i was keen to plan a trip through the forest/ national park from Tumba to ACT, but they moved and it never happened, and as i would have been on my own in an unknown area it always got pushed back on the list of to do’s.

    anyway pleased to meet you,

as they are meant for load on the length of the bolt i.e. clamping strength not side/ shear load?

Thats what I was trying to explain, they will break and be way to hard to get out

    Cheers XY

Birdy told me you found a bladder XY

 Yes TB , i found a bladder on my first ride using the Hydration pack from Sutto’s
while looking for space to fit Menace’s can of tyre foam i happened to notice a some velcro, and i thought oh an extra pocket that i had not noticed before
and guess what, there was a light blue bladder in a plastic bag

so now there are Menace, Sutto’s AND now TB chuckling at my ignorance due to my inexperience :S :(

Oh well if you’re laughing at me, at least you are leaving those with a lower tolerance for being teased alone

    they also do a “wave-loc 2000″= 220 000psi http://www.arp-bolts.com/Catalog/Catalog.html

however i think your choice of the socket head cap screw is a better one, as the arp rod bolts you are supposed to to use a stretch gauge to get the proper tension on them, as they recommend this over using a torque specification.

and being you would have to buy a pack of the arp and the wave lock at around $200 for a V8 set (last set i got a few years ago) .

and the unbreko will do just fine and at a few $$$$ at most too. and will be much easier to get in the right diameter . not all the rod bolts have a straight shank. and an oval/ rectangle head.

    something like this

    imgres-2.jpg

    i’d say, a conrod bolt.

i’ll be interested and will watch here as i’ll be replacing the cast steel one with one of these brackets to fit the Pivot Pegz.

that’s actually a really good idea Mal B)

that way she has some time on a bike you don’t have to find a buyer for if it’s not her thing.

plus someone else is teaching her and will maybe a little less likely to have the stress of how to instruct without the pressure of not getting it right quick enough.

my sis was trying to teach their son to ride his bike while they were her on holidays a couple of years ago, she was getting impatient and frustrated he was not quite getting it, his balance was off and he was almost panicking and about ready to give because of her tone of voice etc.

i got him on it on his own, walked along holding the rear guard and was letting go while resting my hand on the guard to feel if he was balancing on his own. and when he had that sorted i’d let go and let him get just a little further away from me until i thought he had it. then let him ride 15 mitres all on his own.

it turned out when i looked closely the bars were about an inch out to one side, fixed that and he was away in no time after that..

anyway long story short, sort of  ,, if she is taught by someone else 1st up it may be easier for her to pick it up, and save any angst :) between the 2 of you B)

ok i’ll put my 2c worth up.

just before the vic snow ride .28,29,30th august 09. i wanted a new battery for the 640, but i was not going to get one sent in time.

i was not going to buy one of those ebay self mix cheapish (bout $50-70) again, the one i bought about 12 months before hand died some time before, and i decided i Needed to replace it for a ride in an unknown area/place.

i buy a bit of stuff through the local Jaycay/Altronic store.

one of the workers is into bikes- mainly road and had not long sold his TL1000.

i asked if one of the SLA= sealed lead acid batteries would work…..and he had used one in it (TL1000) without any dramas.

i took my old one in to measure it up.

the range they had were either too big for the batt. box or too small. but they had one that was just a few or 10mm smaller lengthways and width, but close enough to the same height.

the only down side is they only have flat/blade connecters on them. and both connecter tabs are on the same end of the batt.

i just slid the loop fitting over the flat tab on the new batt. and soldered it straight to it, i made up a new earth lead to reach across the other side of the batt. box and soldered it on too.

verdict= : very happy to date. $36.00. it cranks the 640 over cold or hot without hesitation even with the headlight on and the thermo fan running without hesitation.

i will look up the numbers and amp specs etc. and update the post sometime soon.

AB, just a thought, would you have room for a box trailer, if you could stand it up on it’s tail gate to store it?

if you had a space you could push it to and have a bracket on a post, you could use a pulley to lift it up onto it’s tail gate and chain it into position.

maybe if it had lift out sections in the floor and removable front gate it would take out some weight. as i know not all of us can stand a normal 6×4 on it’s end on their own

yeah, yeah i know i’ve just made a simple issue into a complicated one.

    but what’s new?!?! :silly:

but if you would be interested in a custom build send us a PM and can go from there.
