An attorney got home late one evening, after a very taxing day trying to get
a stay of execution for a client, named Wilbur Wright, who was due to be
hanged for murder at midnight. His last-minute plea for clemency to the
governor had failed and he was feeling tired and depressed.

As soon as he got through the door his wife started on about, “What time of
night do you call this? Where have you been?” and on and on, she went.

Too shattered to play his usual role in this familiar ritual, he went and
poured himself a very large whisky and headed off for a long hot soak in the
bathtub, pursued by her predictable, sarcastic remarks.

While he was in the bath the phone rang, which the wife answered and was
told that her husband’s client had been granted his stay of execution after
    all.

Realizing what a day he must have had, she relented a little and went
upstairs to give him the good news.

As she opened the bathroom door, the sight of her husband’s rear view
greeted her as he bent over naked drying his legs and feet.

“They’re not hanging Wright tonight,” she said.

The attorney whirled around and screamed hysterically, “For crying out loud,
    Woman! Don’t you ever stop?”

put the steel rule on it this morning, 10mm left. don’t know exactly how many kms.

but so far so good for what i want / need. and considering the size of the bike and it’s grip / seat warmers

Seeing we’re bagging Bashing Ollie’s Retards

oh i mean retreads. my bike is somewhat diff. to BC’s racer. 160ish kgs, i’m an MX rider there abouts heavier than Bruce  and all on STD suspension without any fiddling with the compression, rebound etc.

i had done about 150 -200 km before the Snow ride, and was used to running 28psi in both ends. currently about 18 with rim locks, another 1st for me.

the surface around Mansfield is a mix of red sand, shale? slateish with rocks from golf ball sized through to stuff up to dinner plate in diameter x 2-3″ thick, to 2-3 ltr milk bottle sized.

Friday had the 2nd most challenging hill for me. it was dry for friday, the bike was predictable and i was confidant to go where i pointed it.

saturday was wet and the same, was confident to go where i wanted. until my soil sampling effort.

now back home we have hard pack clay type stuff, and disused gravel pits. the same can be said here too, the only thing is i’m not yet used to riding the flat track at the pit with the lower pressure in the front, rear seems fine. tends to lock the front in the sand and slide/skate away on you.

next time i ride out there i’ll put the front pressure up and see how it feels.

i cannot fault the tyres on the black top either. and to Ollie’s horror prob 50/50 ATM.

i don’t think i thrash my bike, however i’m not kind to it either

tar or dirt. i  the induction sound it makes, WOT up through the gears :woohoo: :silly: ;)

if you can do a tread depth measurement of a new tyre ollie, i’ll post up the measurement of how much is left on mine?

I’m not sure if bikes are the same Mick, but if a car was written off under insurance they used to stamp XXXXX over the top of the engine number.

if this was the case it would have been sort of neat xxxx’s through the numbers.

not exactly sure if it was to prevent rebirthing or what. or to stop people from buying written off cars cheap and buying or stealing  a second car and using the parts along with the write off’s id to make a “legit” id for the car.

as for the XR, either way it may have been stolen, or someone was sold a cheap bike that had been written off or made a bike from wreckers parts and then it could not be reg. only any good for off road private use.

Did you think to do a rev’s check on the vin? or engine number if you could still make out the engine number?

I can introduce you to two mates of mine that lost thier cars( both HSV) , they were DATADOTTED, no one has come back with anything after a couple of years. Put the money into full comprhensive insurance. At the least, you get a bike to ride agian, instead of a report. Also, a big dog does wonders.

    Thanks for that Husky!!!

wonder what the recovery ratio is?

i have sent off the request, i’ve been interested in the pro’s and con’s of their system since i read about it in a Mag.

some insurer’s give you a reduced premium if you have the DOT or other systems in use, well that was few yrs back when the article was about.

    don’t know about now.
