go with the tempering XY. easy as, and should work too.
can ya make me up some new shoes for my horse while youre at it mate.
ya old cobbler:P
glad your getting rid of the slicks. i cringe every time i see em;)
i thought the slicks would be excellent for drifting in the snow!:silly:
i shoe horses real well!
Shoo, SHoo, SHOo SHOO
:woohoo: :woohoo:  :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:um i never had rim locks fitted before, 11000 kms on the 640.
however not real serious riding like most old bull’s though!
what tyre pressure would be the go?
for riding here, clayish and some sand. i run about 28 psi.
my bro was in the old sand/gravel pit, some ‘riders’ said ahh your tyre pressure is too high, let it down a bit. he did a bit to what they reckoned.
kicked it in the guts, roosted off, got a couple of meters and chewed the valve out as above mentioned.
but i have never had an issue without having rim locks.
however i’ll take heed and get some.
any suggestions of what type/brand?
THANKS Peoples;)

Quote:Try tempering them. Heating them red hot (not melting hot) with an oxy then dunking them in oil (prefered) or water. you may have to do this a few times to get the hardness needed.yeah i was hushing:blush:Rushing in all the excitement .
to temper them you use the hot then quench in water a few times then the oil the final time.
as i don’t think quenching in oil each time would work. heating the steel would burn the oil and loose it’s benefit.
ok scrap that, i just asked my old man. you do all the needed work= shaping,
then you heat to cherry red, dip it in the oil for a second then quench it completely in water.
all went well for the first bit, the “non/anti bruise” coating let go the first time i took it out to reposition it for the second grab.
mmmm well tyre 1, tyre levers 0

just stamped on the tank, when the test/ retest was done.>>>>>>EDIT the gas may not have been fitted from new, they probably would not warrantee it if something went wrong and blame the gas. well i know ford do/ have done from BA onwards. won’t warrantee duel fuel, only their factory dedicated/ strait gas.
maybe check out this forum/site http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com
if you like i can post a thread for you if you like? and see what responses it gets
By the way dose anyone know which make if cheaper for parts= mazda verses ford?

Quote:the moter was cooked at 205000 kms and replaced with a second hand low km moter (5000)if you beleive the seller.there was no noises(clicking)at full lock from front hubs in 4wd thats how you tested the old girls not sure about these ones .am a bit worryed about the high klms but it has most things i am looking for in a ute .a decent tray most hiluxs and navaras i have looked at have a very small tray bloody uselessone way i try to look for the indicators of a tied engine, is the amount of oil around the gaskets, rocker cover, head, sump etc. filthy sump or block.
how the interior looks, if all shabby = done it hard, clean but can tell it’s been used = looked after
if the breathers on the diffs all oily, driven hard, abused? ( open to being corrected! )
if you can run it with the oil filler out ( the efi falcons run really rough or stall as they have a sealed engine, taking the filler out, it sucks air in the filler and affects air/fuel mix), let it idle and see if there is any fumes coming out of the filler, the more fumes the more tired the engine.
maybe ask the owner if you can get a compression test done.
my opinion even if the replacement had 25-50 000 on it when it went in, it has done 100 000 to 150 000, if it has been looked after it should have another 100 000 in it easy ( ? open to being corrected! ).
the tray size dose make a diff. to paying a few extra $$$
hi Rocket,
my treepence worth.
6000 for 280 000 is a bit high, unless the engine has had an overhaul. front diff swivel kit? ( like the cruisers)
however if you can haggle?
too see if you can see the test / retest date on the tank, around the 150 mark to be tested and stamped.
the fitment date on the compliance plate is only a guide as the tank could’ve been 1-2 yrs old when fitted.
good luck with it.
so no hang over then Adrian!:woohoo:
also a bump>>>>>> anyone attending/ wishing to attend post or PM me any food allergies. i.e. wheat, sugar, eggs etc. Alcohol
as i had posted i’d make a batch of my rocky road and choc brownies. ( bribes really, for the better 1/2’s that will be coming and may be stuck not riding) .yeah i’d loosen the triple clamps just enough to realign it. i thought the same after my bro cart-wheeled katie.
i found the bar support/mount clamps were twisted too. put a punch in each hole and twisted them back to where the should be.
so that may be a possibility too.
TB
how do you reckon something like this would go?
do you reckon it would do the job?
