Recently put on some new LED blinkers but they do not flash
would like to get them to flash, any ideas? I ahave made myself a flasher but it doesn’t work as I expectedSeptember 22, 2011 at 4:44 pm #209525Most LED blinker kits need resistors wired/soldered in with them to get the flasher to function normally. Are they just coming on without flashing? What do you mean you have made a flasher?
September 22, 2011 at 5:22 pm #209531If you are converting an old globe type setup to LED you will need to change the old flasher unit to a LED one, or they won’t work. The units I have seen were red and looked like an ordinary relay. I converted my ttr230 to LED this way.
September 22, 2011 at 6:26 pm #209526This maybe worth a read pretty sure it will fix your problem which is lack of load for the flasher unit http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=8&id=24982&Itemid=75

September 22, 2011 at 6:35 pm #209527the blinkers come but only flicker really quick, I will try the load resistor, its jsut that it will get very hot with all that power going through it. the flasher is the relay that actually turns them on and off, but it has 6 pins on it and all the aftermarket ones only have 3?
Ill give the resistor a go and see if it works
September 22, 2011 at 9:08 pm #209533I will have a look on the TTR. I did not use a resistor, I bought the lights and LED flasher from super cheap when they had them.
I will also make a note that the LED lights are close to useless in my opinion. They lasted one ride on the back of my CRF every time I replaced them and the TTR was no better. I was going to put the small LED truck clearance lights on, but I lost my whole number plate near Nundle on a trail ride(was a personalised plate to if anyone ever finds it, JR 73, on a red plate), and then gave up on Rego all together.October 3, 2011 at 8:54 pm #209528After much looking around I can’t find a flasher with 6 pins to match the RMX wiring, the closest I can find is something with 7 pins?? it looks like it would fit with 1 pin removed but I don’t know if it would work, any ideas? I don’t want to use resistors because they get really hot and kind of defeat the purpose of having low draw leds
heres the flasher I was looking at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Suzuki-LED-Flasher-Relay-/300604596484?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item45fd6e2104

These may help you. Flashers are a circuit breaker that are calibrated to suit the current load so one suited to LED’s is needed or resistors added. You may find the 7 pin one has an earth wire where you six pin one may earth through its body to the frame. SteveOctober 4, 2011 at 3:48 pm #210067Just had a look at the TTR. It has a red flasher unit, 3 pins marked +, – and the other must be the power to the blinkers. Will check it out further later. The flasher is marked as suitable for LED lights and it worked properly. Converted from bulb lights.
