Grabbed a chain breaker when picking up the tyres,,, no need for the angle grinder now :laugh:Finally hooked in tonite after getting home at 6.
New rubber front & rear, new chain (gold this time) chain tool worked a treat
Also discovered that Black Paint Marker pen touches up scratches and chips on black anodised rime too.The blokes at the bike shop asked if I was bringing the rims back in fir them to change the tyres over?
Called me mad if I thought changing tyres at home with a few levers was fun,,, Not much fun at all really but it`s good practice for doing it out on the trails though
Takes me 15 mins each way to drive to the shop, $$$ to change them and half an hour of their time. I did both tyres and wheels back on the bike and the chain in an hour and a half for free while having a Bundy !!!Washup time tomorow morning and maybe get the green off the new rubber
Just as LC said eags it not cool to quote yourself
But I am still interested to hear you talking about yourself. :laugh:Hope you’ve had a great day Boll. Hope the “Crook ” has well and truly gone. Enjoy the cake!
Very cool Spud love your work !!!

How long before he is leaving you for dead on his bike like Murph`s youngun Tim ????I just rememberd to remove the fork protectors and clean/polish up the lower legs. Gotta look after those things as mentioned on here before, fork seals will love ya for it
I have a few years grace there eags.
And seeing that I’m financing his progress. He might get stuck on a postie if he gets too fast. Great team bonding day.
Taking the head off the old WR426 to see if mr valve got to know mr piston a little to well. Great father and son time in the garage.
might even add in a few brewskis later on for mental calmness. Charlie will be great for bring in the fresh ones. !!!

Yes I agree about the taking the piss bit.
MY opinion is The general perception amongst the trail oriented is that nothing “extreme” or what you would crazy would ever happen on an adventure ride. Having not ever been on a “adventure” I am in no position to say. But I have heard about big red and other triumphs of the adventure fraternity. What I believe should be done is to bring adventure riding to the great unwashed in a way that would have them believe it is actually cool. 👿 What I am about to propose is not entirely my idea as I have witnessed discussions of it around camp fires, pubs and at Coffs Harbour Maybe one adventure type motorcycle could find itself on a trail ride in about October and show everyone what could happen on an adventure ride if they felt so inclined. I stress the word “Incline”. 👿
Good question al. My deep down gut feeling is no. But I am willing to give it a go. After riding the superbly turning 13 CRF450 I found that it still tends to stand you up straight in the berms when you try to get on the gas hard early. No where neer as bad as my YZ. Probably my bad technique?? Hope fully this one I should still be able to ride it like I stole it in the turns but actually go somewhere. If its crap and not worth it I will say so.
Just an update …. I know this has been dragged out a bit sorry.
But my bike is at Bikes and Bits to get the crank removed to go back as a core. I have been spending a much greater percentage of my small amount of riding on the YZ 450. It will be a tough ask for it to impress for power now. But the single will be the real test. On another note I had a ride on the 2013 CRF 450R at the Bike Territory motocross track. The steering was incredible and the power down low was very manageable. Will be nice to try some of this technology when it filters down to 250 and 450x’s.Bundyroy wrote:Good to hear you loved the track Rookie and a great write up. I was the clerk of the course (the bloke who did the riders briefing) and I also was the bloke holding the last lap sign. Got some very pleased responses from the ironmen when they saw that sign. I got to ride a lap of the track on Saturday when we were setting it out although the crf 230 I rode didn’t quite have the thrills of my 300. Still, better than nothing though. I have never seen conditions (including the weather) so perfect at a race. Well done and I hope your bike repairs go well.I have just done up the race results and lap times and emailed them out. If you didn’t get them PM your email address and I will send them to you or post them on here for public viewing so you can boast even more. I’ve never seen positions swap so much in Ironman. It was a very competitive 4 hours.
Hopefully I’ll see you at Coolatai on the 23rd June.
PS. Boony and Aaron were also out there on the weekend. Just trail riding. They’ve gone soft now. I’m pretty shore I saw Aaron’s young bloke go round him on a pw50. He didn’t even take it like a man. Jumped off the bike and threw the helmet down. Even the young bloke was ashamed for him. He didn’t look like he was game to ask dad to release his throttle limiter after that.
Funny that you say that Bundy as he did beat me but I was on a TTR50 and he was on a CRF 70. Just not enough grunt to get my fat arse out of the corners. I would try to rail those burms but he still hosed me  The bit of track that we did get to ride was brilliant. Probably the most technical pony x track I have seen since Tamworth Dungowan station. Well done Scotty! The rest of the singles were prime as well no dust :cheer:
May 12, 2013 at 11:39 am in reply to: Just signed up after reading article in Trailrider mag #241631G’day glenboy welcome to the site. There really is some great riding down your way and I would love to get back there but I have been kicked of the AMTRA forum. Even though you are new here you are probably already aware of the idiot that made that happen. 😆
Happy birthday snow  You don’t look 52 so you must be doing something right.
An old ratchet strap is required on the bigger items yes. Lol. Sorry tezza.
Tie a bit of old shoe lace around the hub and it will get cleaned as you ride along  it used to work on the old dragster anyway.
