That was a good read Ecks man, I have been reading all about the V stroms lately and pick mine up in two weeks from QLD
. My first ride will be 1200 k’s home
. Steve
I was wondering what the secret was
. My problem is whenever I wash the bike it wants to go out straight after and always leads me to puddles and mud  .
27mm was my rheem anode. Just needed a ratchet.
Hi Eagle02, I had a feeling my wheels were out of balance and enquired at the local repairer how much it would cost for a true and balance. Anyway a truing/balance stand was going to cost half the amount qouted so I took the plunge. If you have a rim lock fitted then you will be out of balance by whatever that weighs. I fitted a second one on the rear and didn’t require any extra weight. The front took 60 grams.
If live near Sydney/Blue Mountains you are welcome to borrow the stand. SteveMy mates tank corroded but any metal bits would be at risk due to electrolysis. I think most tanks are coated with ceramic but will eventually rust away. Steve

Now I know it is there, watch it stuff up in the next 4 weeks or so.And I know if I pull the tank out to do a “simple job” watch something else in there stuff up and I will have to fix that as well!! Then I will wish I had left the whole freaking thing alone in the first place.
Sorry Mick
micknmeld wrote:Anodes?? Hot Water service?? Never heard of such a thing, where do you get to it?
I understand what an anode does but I didn’t realise my hot water system would have one and that it is a servicable item? A 20 year old Rheem would no doubt have one??Mine was 15 years old so I would say your anode will be like mine  . For the sake of $40 it might be worth pulling the HWS out. I didn’t know mine had one until a mate lost his and his plumber said it could have been prevented with routine replacement of the anode. Steve
Hi Steve, we went to Clarence yesterday for an explore and popped out at Lidsdale, then went to Jenolan and around through Edith to Oberon. We will probably do a ride every couple of weeks so I will let you know when the next one is on. Steve
Hey Jak, with a test light test for pulse to the coil when the quad is cranking by connecting to earth and probing the power wire or if it has 2 terminals like a car coil just across the coil. The light should flicker if the trigger is working.
If you are getting trigger signal to the coil and it is not producing a spark it is either the lead(high resistance) or coil.

These may help you. Flashers are a circuit breaker that are calibrated to suit the current load so one suited to LED’s is needed or resistors added. You may find the 7 pin one has an earth wire where you six pin one may earth through its body to the frame. SteveYeah a good trusted machinist is worth their weight in gold. Sounds like you have an interesting job.
Hi Lefty, do you do the machining? Bores/heads etc? Thanks Steve
Most LED blinker kits need resistors wired/soldered in with them to get the flasher to function normally. Are they just coming on without flashing? What do you mean you have made a flasher?
Hi Ocker, Thanks for the offer of the test ride. I just have to pick mine up from QLD(dad’s old bike).
Yeah I dont think you could go past the simplicity and capability of the DR650 but the Tenere do look good. I hope to get a DR 650 and keep the Wee
. cheers Steve
I wonder if the ear piece and mike that comes in the kits would work on the bike? The rechargeable batteries that come with the Unidens do well, I have used mine for a week on end without charge(using 10 or so times a day).
Happy to loan mine out for your ride if it proves useful.
