    Congrats Mal and Tim.

Having the privilege of being able to get a very ‘close’ look at the action, and the pain and torture these guys endured, I can say they have ‘bench racing’ and bragging rights for many years to come!

As TB has said this 4 Day has been the toughest for many years, and the ‘local’ guys we looked after all 7 of them plus giving Mal encouragement and snakes all crossed the line.

Some notable bits from our point of view:

[ul][/ul] One deciding to change out a front fork-leg then spring at first morning work period, are you joking,, (done in 8 minutes!!)
[ul][/ul]A minor timing error on day one from one of the service crews.
[ul][/ul]a certain Berg pilot waving and the bike falling over, with 1 tie down still attached.
[ul][/ul]Speaking of waves, the Hamster waving at a few of the sweeps he knew only to hit a stump and sail over the bars right in front of them.
[ul][/ul]same rider different ‘special’ binning it on the line at one X-test, in front a lot of us.
[ul][/ul]A busted mangled and contoured sprocket, and hub, TIME TO CHECK SPROCKET BOLTS BOYS!
[ul][/ul]A discussion about soreness in parts of a mans anatomy that men really should not speak about.
[ul][/ul]the effects of a collision with an immovable pine tree shaped object and the bruising that followed.
    Final Moto:
[ul][/ul]the Doc himself battling his way to 2nd , only to succumb to fatigue to finish narrowly in front of a girl!
[ul][/ul] Joe binning it on turn 3 then coming back to cross the line ‘a fork-leg'(2tenths) in front of medogrocket..
[ul][/ul]later towards the end of the E3 race hamster leading Grabbo, through a few corners!
[ul][/ul]Trying to get rid of the bloody blue tickets at the presso !

We now know that next year is Mackay in QLD, over Easter, sorry we won’t be there too bloody hot!!!

Thanks to all the guy who helped out at service and for evervone for a great week.

And Again Congrats to all the Boys for a sterling effort!!!

    Cheers

TB also reported that Medogrocket was last seen leaning over his bike after the final stage looking very “busted arse” and not too keen to continue on.

You were close TB, I had my head down because my crew just told me that the last special was closed due to a crash, very disappointing

Looked more like relief from where I was standing!!!!

I pulled the swing arm out this arvo and it definately has cracked. Not a big open gaping crack, just a small hair line, not even wide enough to get a stanley knife blade in. I think some of the problem has been the chain slider has been rubbing on the swing arm which has eroded a bit of the swing arm and the crack has appeared.

I spoke to a mate at Yamaha, this is his thoughts:
“No very unusual I have seen some race bikes crack but only as a result of the chain wearing through the slider and carving up the swing arm reducing structural integrity- never seen one crack for no obvious reason”.

Get your hands on some crack detection spray, and it will show it up easily.

But a properly pre-prepared weld should be quiet ok.

No Dramas mate happy to help. B)
My rider DNF’ed on Sun morning, so I ended up working with a few different camps and had time to relax and take some pic’s!.

Congrats to Crash for a HUGE effort, A lot of the guys probably don’t realize how tough this event really is, I have had the opportunity to work with help out, and ‘bench race’ with some of the fastest guys out there and listen to them, and trust me, Crash deserves a lot of respect!!
The grin on his face when he crossed that line was enough…Cheers Mate!!!

I have a host of pics I will try to get them up this week..

Now turning my attention to A4DE……

    Cheers
    Bretto……..

BTW,,,,, Another win for the Blue Team!!!!!! ;)

Went for a quick ride out at the ‘corner’ this arvo with ‘The Hamster'( mate who is racing A4DE)

DAMN it was slippery, had a quick peek over the fence at one of the ‘specials’ hard to tell but by the look of the tomato stakes it is going to be quick and turn rocky real fast.,

with not too much more rain the trails should be great, any more, and……mudslide!!!!!

I use a similar silicon spray called 601, only cause of the ‘procurement’ price…

And like it has been said already, it is easier to wash the crud off after,, even good sticky ‘pine forest mud’..
I spray most of the bike especially under the guards and the mud washes off pretty well.
light dust seems to stick to it really quick though.
