    If you can find an engine or frame number it will tell you what year and engine size.

    G’day fellow enthusiasts;
    I have just completed changing the old XL500 from bush hack to adventure bike.
    Slightly better suited to this application.
    The list of changes/improvements include;-
    10.5 piston
    All new valves
    Bimetal gaskets for the cylinder and head
    Trail Wing tyres, the only ones with 23″dia.
    16T front to 39T rear sprockets
    Small screen to keep some of the wind off.
    Just need a Gel seat pad, to stop the dreaded sore bum issue. (Seat’s Crap)
    Cruise 110k/hr which is not fast, but the brakes are less than spectacular so it’s enough.
    Well back to it.
    Later.

    Not yet struggling with a tuning problem at the moment.
    I might have to put it on a dyno to sort.
    Fortunately there is one in Fountaindale on the coast near me.
    I’ll update when riding.
    Cheers

    Frontera has repaired pipe fitted, welding not as pretty as the pro’s but she’ll do.

    G’day all;
    Well the Frontera could have used a new pipe but the cost was something akin to buying a new bike, so I compromised and just replaced the header, the best quote to do this, was $300.
    So I just dove right in and cut it off.
    2 mandrel bends ($45) and 2 hours later and viola, a new pipe, better than original with smoother bends.
    and the fitting for the O2 sensor.
    A coat of paint on the weekend and I’ll upload some pic’s; job done! :)
    Cheers till next time.

    G’day all;
    Today I fitted 2 fuel filters to the Frontera EFI. Took the rear brakes, off the Matador MK4 SD, down for reline ( this is my current project), Frontera has progressed to testing.
    Picked up some NOS brakes for the bultaco’s from the local bike shop, (he had them in stock since the eighties got’em at the eighties price 😆 I think he feels sorry for me.
    Lastly the new swing arm roller bearing kit arrived for the XL500s, I was out riding the other day and it kept changing lanes when I decelerated. 1 Bush had completely collapsed, nothing lasts anymore, :silly: only lasted 32 years???

    Swing arm tomorrow.
    Cheers.
