Its still for sale. Not on ebay any longer. $5500. PM me if you are interested.
Just had a look at the TTR. It has a red flasher unit, 3 pins marked +, – and the other must be the power to the blinkers. Will check it out further later. The flasher is marked as suitable for LED lights and it worked properly. Converted from bulb lights.
Sounds good, only question I have is…….. What sort of bike have you bought?
The problem is the unregulated trails I would think. Makes no difference if the riders are registered or have a liscense. Too many bike riders and no control of the direction they ride or where they ride.
I am not condoning no rego or license but you all have to agree the price of rego on a bike is the main reason people don’t have it.
However it still doesn’t solve the risk of head on crashes on public property. We all face the chance of this any time we go into the scrub. Some interesting replies! The resale thing must be bad if anyone considers them worse to sell than a second hand Honda CRF450X…… cant shift a nearly 3 year old one for $5500. I sold my 12 year old XR400 for $2500 in 08. Just goes to show unreliability issues far out way the old bullet proof technology of an XR. Imagine how much a 12 year old CRF will be worth.
So no new Husky for me yet. Thanks Crash, that looks tempting. Still trying to sell the old one.
I should mention my wife ordered this bike for me for Christmas 2008 :woohoo:
I had an XR400 that I bought new in 96 and I broke my foot on it in 2000. I pretty much gave bike riding away then and then my brother in law asked me to go in a pony express at Moree in 2007. I enjoyed it but the old XR sure wasn’t the newest bike in the pits anymore lol. I whinged for a year about my old XR. A brand new CRF turned up under the chrissy tree!!!!!!!!! I had to write the cheque out though lol.
I am thinking a Husky 449 or 511. Just don’t want to buy another CRF thats exactly the same as my old one. Any suggestions?
Spent lots of time on the net last night researching. Seems to me the point that most focus on is the looks. However I watched a couple of videos and mate that rear end tracks dead smooth over rocks and stuff. That would make it a faster bike than my CRF on its own I reckon. Buy they all say they try to stand up in the corners which worries me a bit.
I think I am going to get one. I will have to wear everyone saying how it looks like the seat is on backwards etc. Still be better than having a bike that looks like a skinned pumpkin though lol.
511 or 449. Hmmmm.Been doing research on the net. They seem like they have the nicest handling rear suspension about. Heaps of quality parts on them, fuel injection etc. But they are weird looking and that muffler is a bulls eye for damage.
You would hardly say a CRF450X had an awesome resale value really either. Nor are they easy to sell. Seems any new generation 4 stroke is hard to get rid of. But no doubt the husky would be more difficult.
Man they are tempting though. $1000 cheaper than the cheapest CRF450X price I have found.
Appart from the controversial looks and dodgy resale, can someone tell me how they compare to a CRF450X to ride in the tight snotty scrub and in the open going like Yellow mountain?just like to mention that Todd Smith must be one tough bugger. he dislocated his hip at our local motocross track about 3 weekends ago and is now in the Aus Safari.
Hope Troy O’Conner does well. Go the privateer!I will have a look on the TTR. I did not use a resistor, I bought the lights and LED flasher from super cheap when they had them.
I will also make a note that the LED lights are close to useless in my opinion. They lasted one ride on the back of my CRF every time I replaced them and the TTR was no better. I was going to put the small LED truck clearance lights on, but I lost my whole number plate near Nundle on a trail ride(was a personalised plate to if anyone ever finds it, JR 73, on a red plate), and then gave up on Rego all together. If you are converting an old globe type setup to LED you will need to change the old flasher unit to a LED one, or they won’t work. The units I have seen were red and looked like an ordinary relay. I converted my ttr230 to LED this way.
I think half the trouble is you can come out of a tight single track and back onto the main track/public road and forget the road rules. remember where you are is probably the best bet. You also have to consider when you are hooking along the single track that there is an even chance of another bike coming along the other way. Common sense should prevail really.
