There is a trick to the dipstick and it goes in easily.I think crash has had some dipstick grief and had to buy another after cross threading his.

With my bike, I put it in at an angle first with the end of the stick across to the right hand side of the oil tank, then straighten it up before screwing it in and all is good.

Ahhh yes young grasshopper, anyone can start a XR650 if shown the right way…..and with a bit of practice.
