It is a bit of a pain in the arse to get to the carbies and then get them back in, only to find that it all has to come apart again. It isn’t a 5 minute job to even get to the carbies, let alone get them out! The carbs on this bike are even hooked up to the bikes cooling system and you have to disconnect water lines as well as the myriad of other rubber hoses.
Thanks TB, I will rip the carbs out again this arvo and give it another go. Getting the carbs out isn’t as hard as it first looked and now I have sussed out how to get them back in with minimal dramas. I am getting close to the money, as at least it starts and runs now! Just not quite running right though.
AS STM stated, as someone that works in media, this made interesting viewing and I agree with his statements entirely.
At one of our company’s sites, I have watched the balance of power swing completely around to an all female management structure over the last 10 years. In that time I have seen every male employee persecuted to the extent, that they have all left and there are now, no males at all on the sales staff. At the same time I have watched the morale drop among the staff and absenteeism has gone through the roof. The bitchiness and clawing for position has hit a level were, what staff are there, are taking stress leave on a regular basis.
So with the things turned round, it is no better with women at the controls in my opinion.Got the carbies out and stripped down, hit them with the magic spray and after my head stopped spinning from the fumes, I put the carbies back in the bike. Hit the button and it fired straight up! My excitement was short lived though, as it is still bogging at low revs and wont run with out the choke on , although it revs out fine up to 14,000 rpm. So it appears there is still an issue down low and the revs fluctuate at idle. Any ideas were to go from here?
Gday Gazza, Welcome to OBT and thanks for the intro. Awesome old Bultaco!! Is that a resto or is that original condition?
There are quite a few Old Bulls in your area, but be warned, do not sign up for a Murphsberg ride in the Watagans or that shiney Bultaco will never look as good again!! 😆
Cheers
MickOn behalf of TB, Chris, myself and the rest of the admin crew, we would like to thank Rod and Tracey for their support of OBT, pretty well since it started. Their support has been a great help in getting us to where we are now. There has also been plenty of times that Rod has saved the day for one of our guys when something has broken or they have forgotten to pack something for the ride. (like a helmet, ay Rebore).
We would like to wish them well with the sale of the store and in their future endevours.
The OBT Admin team.
Hey Jeffro, was it starting and running OK prior to you cleaning the carbie and you were just doing preventitive maintainence or had it given you some indication it wasn’t happy?

Enjoy your day.
Thanks for the wishes everyone! Unfortunately I have to work today, Tuesdays are one day here that you cant take off, even if you are dead. I haven’t worked on my birthday for the last 4 years, so, I am gunna have to wear it. What is worse, with the leap year, my birthday will be on a Tuesday again next year!

Tentative permission has been granted by the missus, now the biggest hurdle will be today when I go cap in hand to our regional manager to ask for the days off work, after just having 5 weeks off. :S
Nice one Mick. I’m sweeping so maybe we can travel down together.
I can’t decide whether to ride the DR or keep the Quinn for one last ride
The heart wants to ride the Quinn but the wife wants it gone :pinch:

Hey TB what’s with the D1169N stamped on everything?
If you have a look at the pics of the big Honda everything seems to be stamped with those numbers.

Thanks TB, now I just gotta work out how to get the carbies out. Man road bikes are a pain in the arse to work on!! Fairings and all that shit to come off before you even get to see what you are up against!
