Then after that decide if you want to go slow.

Diddel the kids round here would want $50 for you to push them in a stroller, then they’d claim workers comp for injuries recieved and take me to the cleaners….

If you’re keeping your smoker Bruce I think you’ll love it as an ADV/do it all sort of bike. Being such a hardcore 2t and hard hitting MX bike fan I can’t see you ever owning one by itself though :P

Too right Moto, anyway the moment for this one has passed, looks like it’s sold, just talking to one of my coworkers who’s a complete bike nut he’s got one (amongst around 14 bikes in his shed ATM) he bought one a couple of years ago for 2300… – Bargain and was riding it on the weekend with his young fella on a Husky 450 on their MX track…

So they are definitely out there, I’ll just bide my time untila bargain is to be had.

I saw that Rocket, actually owned a very nice (too look at) 300exc with heaps of suspension work done by HRh Terry Haye, I tried God knows I tried, but after one too many trip over the bars courtesy of the Pilot Discharge System, I gave up on it and bought a bike that suits my riding style, I am very ye olde MX schoole I mostly ride the rear and float the front, PDS ain’t condusive to this Hence the lack of success in SX and to a lesser degree MX. This is also why myself and many other former KTM riders are watching the new 350 linkage bikes with interest.

It’s a trade-off you could buy a postie and not worry about frequent valve checks and oil changes too……. ;)

I see the new KTM350 with linkage is kicking butt on the Euro scene.

Gunna put nipples in it when I do the bushes….

Ecks, depending on your weight maybe you maybe able to use the OEM titanium rear spring from the 450, I was able to, saved a few dollars as they can be had for a 6 pack.

I got a rude shock tonight, sat on mine and the rear linkages are a bit “tight” and I’ve got a big ride on next saturday, so might have to do an emergency grease or something tomorrow cause it’s too late to replace all the rear bearings at this stage.

Bugger Bugger Bugger. Would it be too much to ask Mr Yamaha to put some grease nipples in these things?

Yep you know why I asked Ecks, cause my old boy was a red collie, one in a million in so many ways.

Just pick the red throwbacks from a mile, there’s just something different about them.

And remember if it’s blue it’s gunna bite (dogs and bikes)

I’m only thinking about it as a second mount for more adv riding with a good setup, set of pillions, long range tank and upgraded lighting, just a thought.
Simmo who owned this one spares no expense on servicing, he has 3 or four other bikes as well, just wondering if one will come around again like it.

Probably won’t get one yet, but the seed is planted.

Wash your mouths out brothers of the 2T clan there will always be a 2T bike in my shed, sometimes they have 4Ts sitting alongside as well.

Still a top effort Mal, it was mechanical failure out of your hands, not rider error or lack of Prep or teamwork or any such other human issue.

You did well, and go go go To the other two lads still going.

Brakes?! We don’t need brakes where we’re going mate! :D

    Straight to the hospital………

Gotta love the sweep on the bars back in those days, woulda been hard on the old wrists and forearms, but never fear my approved “puddin basin” helmet will save the day.

I think this bloke went on to be the minister for main roads…

What is it TB says, “old age and cunning will get youth and talent everytime” or something along those lines?, Stefan (actually a Kiwi) and King Kirk are almost old enough to be veterans now, WTG all involved.

Ta Mick for the updates, better than a newspaper you are..

Love them Ecks, I especially like the one of seasoned campaigner Bruce Garland (known to many as ‘Mr Rodeo”) in the Rodeo replacement D-Max bottoming out, the things he can do with a 6VDE1 V6 engine is phenominal, both a top mechanical engineer and a top driver.

    Thanks for sharing again.

It’s not even a featherbed Norton at that, the BSA Bantam was a favourite amongst the scramblers, but obviously that was a hillclimb event where power and weight are your friends, so we could consider that a slightly more advanced version of a DRz400.

    With similar outcomes anyway….. :P
