oops  sorry mate  Kayaba were on my sons KX250F and they were excellent. I think the RMX has Kayaba as well and they have had the Teknic treatment as well and cant really fault them.

Hey Husky Bloke just got back from Tekniks after dropping off the rear Sachs shock for the Gasgas. Mark (evil Rudy) went right through it with me and described how and what would be done.Basicly he said the shock was good but with some minor short comings which will be resolved totally for under $500. This includes a new damper valve and bladder arrangement. so by getting the 2011 you should be able to get your fronts done as well and have a superior suspension setup.

since your fairly light the stock .41 springs should be ok and you will be able to get by with just mucking around with your clickers. This will show up when going quick on a downhill over an erosion mound if it bottoms out and your compression adjustment is fully set you may need .44kg/m springs.
The very first thing you need to do before adjustments is have both the forks and shock serviced so you know they are in good nick and have oil in them. Then I would start at the standard settings,(Front fork compression 14 clicks, rebound 12 clicks, Rear shock compression 16 clicks, rebound 12 clicks.) On forks rebound screw is at top and compression screw on bottom and rear shock compression adjustment at top and rebound on bottom. Note that the specs are turn the screws clockwise till they bottom then anti clockwise the correct amount of clicks. Ride and adjust to suit your riding. Change your fork oil regularly and your shock oil at least once a year. you can reduce the amount of fork oil height (ie add more oil) but I would not go below 90mm.Its all about getting out there and having a play, try different things, take a notepad and write down what seems good etc.
Have fun

Ok done a bit of investo work and this is what I have dug up
From another site and a Guy who’s knowledge I respect:
The 98 on Australian RMXs were never sold in the states so you won’t be able to buy pipes from FMF or PC etc to specifically suit them. The 98-00 Australian models were based on the later RM engine which has the water pump higher up.
Don’t worry though after much stuffing around I worked out that the basic shape of a 99 RM250 pipe is the same and the mounts are in the right spots, only the header pipe is a slightly different angle. I fitted a 99 RM250 FMF Fatty to mine and just cold bent the header pipe. It fitted fine the only issue is one of the spring loops doesn’t line up but I found no issue running the one spring. I used a FMF Turbinecore 2 silencer with the pipe which made it nice and quiet but didn’t restrict power.

I have the Pro circuit on mine and was given it so not to sure of the FMF one that would fit, I will do some investigation and get back to you. The Gnarly is the way to go really strong pipe Nickel plated etc, I think a 95 model RM would go close

No they are very easy if you havnt done it before, I would google it on you tube to get an idea or get onto Technics July specials. The standard springs are .41’s from memory and are way to soft for most average built Aussies ( im 92 kg’s and have .46’s fitted)

Scotty wrote:Demasi, I looked this up recently and the info I got was 639ml per leg. That should get you in the ball park and can play with oil height to suit.yep that sounds about right, off the top of my head I think its about 110 mm from the top of the fork leg with springs removed.
