Does anyone actually like Micheling desert fronts?

Not a bad pattern the biggest problem is the profile is low from memory 90/90 easy to dent rims and get pinch flats from what I have seen and felt :pinch:

I’m still keen for a new one in the TB order.

If you’re following a GPS line, Shonky is fine. If you’re planning and want to make it easier, Oz Topo 4 works for me. Cost about $200

This ‘track’ was planned in Shonky :pinch:

Oz Topo eliminates the need to look at Google maps as often when planning

I know where that is now

Sorry Axel, I agree with Lotsa about OZ Topo or Garmin Aus etc Knowing you are a thrifty bugger I didn’t suggest it    Will you be plotting on your computer or just reviewing where you have been and finding the road out when it gets to hot

Don’t discount Shonky as a free option but does most people

Not rushing or anything but the thought of nabbing a second hand one from os is tempting me.
What should I be looking at price wise for a second handy 60csx from US/UK? Is that a bad idea? What about maps, software and such are they costly (or freely obtainable)?

Well an update for you Axel, firstly Rome wasnt built in a day Champ ;)

I have some new information on using the 62s and am testing it and maybe writing a procedure to make it more user friendly for peeps that may get one (joining routes in the problem compared the a 60CSx) . I used the 62s for the full pre run and it was good. At this stage that is my recommendation if you cant get a NEW 60. Purchase from overseas is fine, load free shonky maps on on it.

Getting some Garmin Rinho 650’s (google them) to trial for the FEB nav ride with Flying Fish they are a 5watt UHF and a GPS with close enough as the same specs as the 62s. Cant report on how they work for another month or so. Will hopefully trying a Margellan 610 and 710 as well.
