Thanks to SafariBerg on ADV
“Andrew Scott is out with injury he fell and broke his wrist today
Warren Strange told me at the end of the stage today that Todd did a piston (second GHR engine failure which is a worry)
Bens (Grabbo) GPS did not work all day, but he still managed to get ALL the way points Safari style using roadbook only and rally smarts ……………………though he drop a heap of time trying to sort the GPS until he gave up on it. Don’t underestimate how much time that took, thats amazing he still did so well
Ben’s 60% pace was 13th outrigth on Day 2………………yesterday he had bike jetting & handling issues and today the GPS so not reflect of his true pace yet
Rod Faggoter is doing a top job and is very consistent so far

Done Nick cheers
Todd Smith broke down (another GHR engine failure?) “Brett Cummings the south african pay as you go rider for the team, towed fellow rider Todd Smith out of the racing stage for 28km, and then a further 130km on the liaison. Almost blowing his own bike in the process. Brett says that it was the toughest and most spectacular stage by far in the race…
What a legend
Todd ended coming in at pos 128, which has him at pos 64 outright.
Rod Faggotter 13th on stage, 17th outright.
Matt Fish 24th on stage, 24th outright
Grabbo 31st on stage (after dropping to 70th at WP1), 29th outright
W. Strange 27th on stage, 30th outright
Troy Oconnor 52nd on stage, 42nd outright
Simon Pavey 127th on stage, 90th outright.Paul Smith ended the stage in 18th, for an 18th outright pos.
Johnny Campbell on the HRC 450 did a fuel pump stage e Robbie Gordon picked up parts for Johnny Campbell’s bike before the HUMMER started todays special. Robby found Johnny and his bike, turned around and dropped the necessary parts to Campbell. In the video he calls Carlos a cheat, I love the guy he is so up front and the hummer sound gives me wood :woohoo:
Robbie Gordon rolled the hummer this morning but is mobile again, dropped time of course :pinch:
Listen to the Hummer at around the 3 or 4 min mark, whole interview is pretty good takes the blame for day 1 and 2 problems basically

‘The safari regulars doing the business
Top job by RodF today… 18th on the stage abord the #123 Yammy, puts him 20th overall after leg 3 and currently leading Aussie!Right behind in 19th today was SmithyT on the GHR Honda 156… which places him 24th outright.
Next up the senior member of the Oz Squad Strange warren on the 131 GHR bike, claimed 32nd pos today, and sits 33ed total… right behind Grabbo 32nd (36th on stage 3 today) and Fishy 31st (40th on stage today)… all of the above within a half hour (plus a bit of change) on overall leader… the safari surrenderer – despres.
Troy’O also doing a great job, bagging 41st spot today… puts him in 40th overall.
I think the aussie (Safari) front runners are starting to figure out that the dakar is not just hype… you work for a 30th spot on a stage over there, like you would for a top 10 in oz… the pace maybe nopt quite as frantic… but the stages are tough and the mental pressure of the navigation (and stress for the consequences if you get it wrong) take their toll… both on body and mind… and there’s still ten days of it to go!
In the autos; Geoff Olholm/Ashton took 11th stage time today and is in 18th total
Garland/Zuki finished 37th and lies 42nd total
Di Lallo/Riles were 52nd today and sit in 61st
Go aussies!”
I just found out that Fish lost time because he stopped to fix his team mates bike. I guess as water boy in the team that is his job, would be mixed emotions but I reckon
Matt in action on the Husky

Grundy the South African (adopted Aussie because he is on a GHR paid ride) had an engine blow, thats one GHR engine down hope thats not a trend. Simon their engine builder is a gun, knowing him it would have to be a component failure he puts the “P” in professional
