As per this arvos phone call Boony I am having to sadly withdraw from this ride. The new sweet singles have had me salivating since the ride was first posted ( I was the first to post that I was in )

Boony wrote:Some techno info for this ride. There will be mid pack sweeps on some parts of the friday and saturday ride, They will be in green vest. they will be assisting with things like directions on the new singles and the roosting of unsuspecting participant (their from tamvegus remember) and general assistance, so buy them a beer at the pub if you get a chance.
Lunch will be $20.00 cash READ cash (no EFTPOS) where we are going.
Fuel will be $2.00 a litre, if that is too much the alternative is a bloody long push. these people do not have to supply it for us, they do it as a favour. We have contacted the local police and although this is not an organized ride It appears about 30 other dirtbike riders will be in the same spot at the same time,so we have been asked to do the same thing we did last year. No skylarking in the town on your bikes, all bikes are to be registered,no tearing up the van park on the bikes. I will lead the three rides out of town so please all stay behind me and obey all NSW road laws. Theres a bloody great big forest you can cut sick in so do it up there.
there are no bike shops in nundle so have yah bike and back pack prepared . I will ask a few local dealer if they could bring some gear up like tyres,tubes.levers.
There will be a riders brief, head count and general chat before we leave on each ride.
Sorry to be a bore but if you dont like the rules stay at home.
more later

The KTM team only has a Mexican dude with a jerry can and some cable ties
Thats why they have NEVER won it
Actually KTM built the 690 and used all their Dakar guns a few years back to try and win it. Got their arse kicked, tried again the next year got 3rd and havent been seen since  Grabbo’s wasnt a factory effort I believeTB
LC4skin wrote:Just changed a couple of tyres and thought I would ask if anyone else has what sounds like little balls of rubber floating around inside their UHD tubes? Its been like that for a long time now and doesn’t seem to affect anything, maybe just the wheel balance when riding at speed on the tarmac.
Yes the tube I holed with the railway service spike at the 2009 birthday ride had been in 3 bikes and done 40k plus had three balls in it all larger than golf balls  The real rubber tubes do it. Ultra heavy duty tubes lose their air pressure slowly as well because of the real rubber used in them so remember to keep an eye on the pressures boys

moto wrote:It’s way too heavy to do any real trials stuff with, having had direct experience with both forms of the sport I know this. It wouldn’t handle any decent trail use as the fork is too small and it doesn’t have the power to sensibly get about to explore without it being laboursome because they unecessarily de-tuned it. It does nothing well, maybe that’s the point. But at $10K I struggle to see it’s value for a single bike (other than a learner/novice), and if you’re going to own more than 1 bike you might as well have a trials bike and an enduro bike and do it properly, not to mention a trials bike is cheaper.
A KTM 250 weighs 104Kg and and a KTM 200 weighs 97Kg, both have considerably more power. 99Kg is not light when you account for the fact the bike makes half the power of a normal 350.
If you read my post, you’ll see the only area it was compared to my bike is fuel economy. When taking into account my heavy 4t and it’s 60hp it makes the Freeride’s fuel economy not look impressive either.
This bike should weigh about 80Kg, then the economy, handling and performance *might* warrant paying $10K for it.
Yeah I see what your saying re the weights etc mate. I think the point is like you say it does nothing real bad or real good

moto wrote:It’s an old 2 stroke. There was one for sale in Newcastle a few weeks back. Early 80’s.EDIT: Here’s a 1994 one in Richmond-Tweed. A claimed 70+hp
Thanks for clearing that up
Still an expensive piston :ohmy:TB
99kg is light Moto compared to any other bike let alone a 350cc bike

TB
It’s for a niche market, and you can’t and shouldn’t I think compare it to either a trials bike or an enduro bike because it isn’t claimed to be either.
It would be a fun bike I reckon, better in the bush than a trails bike, better in the trails stuff than an enduro bike. Great fun for playing

Comparing against a 570  I don’t know what to compare it against but certainly not a 570  or a TL250
My thoughts anyway

Stm should have a great idea as he has owned both!!Am sure he told me that it would only be noticable of a LCD TV not when down to 720 on youtube when I spoke with him a few months ago  well I thought he did  Old age maybe on my behalf
axel wrote:Have you got a stray KTM 550 2 stroke that needs a piston TB?
