I know how you did it but this is funnierLefty wrote:How is the Dunlop D908 Rally Raid tyre going on the front? I think thats what you said you put on before you left. What did you fit to the Rear? Is it holding up OK?Lefty
The rally raid is wearing good (has about 2500kms on it now) it was a little funny at the start and would tram line bad for the first 2k but is very stable and I haven’t had a single moment with it. Is it worth the extra expensive ummm  Time will tell
Rear
Fitted a Michelin T63 that I have wanted to try forever. Was stoked when mate said he had one. It’s going good but I’d early days. Jacko fitted a 606.TB
Lefty wrote:Hi TB,
Yes I reckon that your right, about doing it more than once. Also, not being ignorant but where does the telegraph track go to/from and how many km’s? Do you go further north or is Weipa as far as you go? What time do you plan to leave?
Also what has you fuel range been like? Have you had to carry more?Say Hi to the guys for me and ride safe Gents. :woohoo:
Cheers,
Lefty
Fuel range hasnt been a real problem although I did put 24L in my 23L tank at Charters Towers
The telegraph track is a harder old unserviced alternative between Bramwell junction and the Jardine River
No we head further north today as far as the cape is concerned we are only halfway there follow the spot Click hereTB
Lefty wrote:Great pics and reports there TB. Looks like you blokes are having an absolute ball. :woohoo:Another one on the bucket list.
Ride safe.
Cheers,
Lefty
Need to do it more than once I reckon Lefty this is my second and it’s good having a little idea what to expect. We are doing some different things and it’s changed heaps eh
Tomorrow is the big day given what we have been hearing about the telegraph track. Drowned enduro bikes, 4w4s etc as the creeks are up because of the late wet season finish.
We will suss it and deal with it
plenty of photos and helmet cam.
I booked us into Punsand bay camp area today and for the huge fresh caught sea food banquet Saturday night as wellTB

twobanger wrote:I was suprised when i flicked through to the winner and there wasn’t a KTM there  . Was getting used to either KTM of Berg getting the prize…………So reading this thread am I correct in understanding there was no KTM or no CRF? So if that’s the case is it a real reflection of the market and test? And what was there?
TBDay 5
Well it was a slower start this morning because we had no where to go and well after last night. Also don’t forget Kram’s snoring which was wrong

Breakfast was cold left over pizza and then down to the bus for the mine tour

Mined area

Loaders and 190 belly dumpers (that’s 190 tonne pay load)

At the face

The belly dumpers are allowed to do a maximum of 64kph and all the ones we saw were driven by women

Water cart

Recovery party note the water

We are having a few beers ATM and preparing / loading the bikes for tomorrow

The quieter one is Jacko it was wrong and to top it of because we only had the wire door open at one stage around midnight there was 3 older people standing on the road laughing at our cabin while I watched them laugh I wished I could go to their caravan

So this morning we woke in Musgrave (some of us better than others) we sooted to Coen with very little traffic or dust due to the heavy due over night. Nick, Kram ( the non ice cream getting cruel man) and I added a couple of litres of fuel for the run to Archer river road house. It’s a pretty remote place and we had to suffer because they had no eggs and others supplies so we had to imbprovise when we ordered our breakfast.
Archer river road house

More roast rains

Some more riders heading back from the cape (from Adelaide) they had a bloke with them sporting a busted collar bone
Nick’s Tenere at the roadhouse

Feed lot at the roadhouse

Google toots the truckie that opened the tip up until she was killed a bloody legend, her memorial

Archer River

We kept head down arse up into Weipa, we arrived at the boom gate (not like Wauchopes boom gate when you go back in time) this one crosses the haul road
Waiting at the boom gate for a belly dumper the pass, only thing that passed was a water cart before it got to hot and we needed a drink

Fair size !!!

Weipa we are here

We cruised around having a look at the port

The harbor

. Went croc searching

Old ship thing
