So we left Mareeba at 7.30 had a great run to Palmer River roadhouse where we stopped for a huge breakfast. From there we we headed up to the start of the development road

All roads open
But this caught our attention

On to the dirt and the start of the 4w4 drives and road trains, the dust was amazing (real dust Krusty) we stopped at the Hann River roadhouse for a stubby that of course turned into two or three. We met Mike a gentleman from England. Mike is riding all over Aus on his BMW 1200 and is one of natures gentleman.

Check his helmet on the seat

Back view of the BMW

Hann River local

Mike set of for Musgrave before we left has it happened we came across him helping a mother and two kids one there own with a flat. Nice bloke he is was changing the tyre, we offered help but he had it under control so we continued onto Musgrave station were we sat under the house at the staton and proceeded to drink everything that they had. The boys were even seen drinking hot extra dry because they the piss wrecks lead by Kram (Snake murderer) had drank all the cold ones

We met Schooner the guard

Moose pretending to read about the station

Road trains came and went

Musgrave station

Airstrip at station that we got turfed from in 2004

We setup camp ate, drank and were seen to be merry camped

Ok do today we left Charters Towers at 7.30 and shot up the Gregory development road, emus, roos and bloody big brama cattle (huge) we stopped at blue water roadhouse for a bacon and roll. Everyone was feeling better this morning.
We pushed on to Mt Surprise and what a surprise, nothing
Chicken had been on the phone via blue tooth helping getting the tyres we had at Normanton sent home and organising others for us at Mareeba. Thanks Chicken mate we couldn’t do this without you, and that’s a thanks from us all.
We flew into 2 wheels n wear for tyres Chicken had organised. Aaron there had the tyres fitted, chains lubed and we were gone in half an hour. Cheers Aaron he also offered us coffee in the morning and offers of single track riding better than Coffs if ever we want.
We went to a pub in the main drag had a couple of quiet ones before we found our digs for the evening.
Funny thing we bumped into a mate of King Bollocks who as I type this is sharing some stories about our King  :laugh:Beers are flowing nicely

We are planning to be camping at Musgrave station tomorrow evening. Check it out

Amazingly we got away just after 6 the run to Bowen river hotel was awesome and testing given it was darkish and foggy we shot past there about 7.15am. It was cool and I heard a couple of the boys even had their grip warmers on
The bowen river hotel is worth a look if you are ever up here, I didn’t even know it was there or we would have camped there last night (but then Kram wouldn’t have been chased out of Colinsville
don’t ask if you weren’t here you will never know )
bowenriverhotel.com.au/We kept pedaling laughing at Kram who wasnt himself you could say and was showing he had reflexes that could be measured with a sun dial. Nick and I both had a little moment on a concrete causeway ( no falls Lefty just a slip ) and we commented how that was the slipperiest crossing ever and Kram would fall off there and he did
We rode on to Burdkin Dam about 160 kms through tracks and country that reminded us of the flinders ranges. It was twisty with dip dirt causeway after causeway at times leaving you in two minds on how fast to hit them never sure what each one had to offer. We eventually got to the dam only to find the back road closed because the dam was running over  No signs saying road closed ahead either ( I posted a picture earlier)
Out came the maps and we detoured nearly 300 kms in the end. At one stage whilst traveling between stations I came up behind a 3 trailer road train and was left wondering how if I could get close enough through the dust would I pass it? As luck would have it we came into river crossing and he saw me hanging out behind him. The crossing also lead into a small town where this guy owned the servo as well. We filled up and chatted with him about trucks, Cummins engines, bikes etc while Kram tried to work out anything anything at all
Moose and I have been loving the road trains. We set off with a 250km run to Charters Towers where we are camped tonight, the boys are a little quieter tonight and all in their tents early after last night :pinch:

Nick had a flat on the run to Charters Towers that we couldn’t get the bead out on when inflating it. So Nick and I had to run the tyre back up the road on Moose’s bike to use a compressor (80km round trip) All that excitement took place about 165kms out of CTs.
After talking with a guy here tonight that manages a station up near Musgrave on the Cape regarding a road closure we aren’t going to Normanton. I had been chasing track information with Chicken’s help and the local police, thought we may have been able to get through but have heard its a no go tonight. So a reroute tonight and a 7.30 leave tomorrow hopefully will see us up at Hann river or Laura roadhouse tomorrow night
Random country
First crossing that displayed croc warning signs this trip

I also have some video and helmet cam footage of the beautiful country and tracks we have been traveling which will have to wait until I get home
