EAGLE`02 wrote:Similar to breaking frames on DR650`s ???
I have read about plenty of guys ride reports with 690`s loaded up (after changing the tank bolts, upper & lower, run the braced touratech rack and most have no probs)
I get 200k from my standard tank (riding like a girl apparently)
so another 9 litres will suffice for most of my planned trips. Can also run a bladder or maybe Rotopax if needed I suppose….I guess I am rather, no very inexperienced in the subject, but I reckon they are ok
:laugh:I have only seen one DR break a frame and its ridden hard by a big man :pinch: Yeah thats all correct Eags and for most it will be alright, I am only repeating what the KTM sales people told me. 200kms is a little short when you get out the back for fuel range but. I did look at that one I walk past it all the time  and spoke in detail about it, it does look good that fairing
The twin tanks could be bigger but, I think they are a bit small to use the standard radiator shrouds. And you dont ride like a girl mate
Kat rides heaps better than you

Krusty wrote:Boulder Orange eh? Did you have a look at the 690 Enduro Suttos done up? They added tanks and a proper full face fairing.. It was very trick looking.. Has a bit of the 990 look to it..Both Dan and Chris said you cant load a 690 up like we do and ride them where and how we do with the stuff we do because you will break the back of them  I know I asked the question cause it looks ok The twin tanks only hold 9 litres more fuel than a standard 690. The fairing looks good but

TBHaven’t the 690’s been running EFI for a few years now? Does anyone know what the differences are between what the 690 has and what the 2012 enduro models got?
I would think given the engine size there would be a fair bit of difference. Without part numbers etc you wouldnt know. The 690 isnt without its own EFI problems, there was talk of people entering the APC rally on 690’s carrying pumps or injector. Look on the KTM forums, Eagle put a bloke onto Sutto’s from Canberra that couldnt get his sorted down there. The 990s also have their own fuel problems with pumps I am sure it is.

The other question I have is if they went from the first filter then to a 10 micron and now to 20 micron what size contaminants with possibly block the injector or cause fuel pump issues. They must have been concerned at the start and then to go to a 10 micron. Why would they over filter (eg fit a 10 when a 20 can do the job, a 10 will risk blocking easier) if it could handle 20 microns. I teach clean engine care, fuel system care and the company I work for owns fleetguard filters (one of the largest filter companies in the world) know that 1 micron is small (one millionth of a metre) but they have doubled the filter size in other words halved the filtration ability? So if it’s now going to get past the filter can the pump and injector handle the contaminants that are twice the original filtered size? Given that their sister comapny Husaberg has seen a few pump and injectors problems maybe tahts why it was so filtered to started with? Hang onto your tow rope Murph. I hope I am wrong but i just wonder
It’s interesting this problem as the Tenere is fuel injected, it is stock no extra socks or filters and some of the remote shit places we fuel with no problem makes me wonder why they are having so many dramas.

Well I rode my scrapheap bike to work this morning to confirm I have fixed the fuel feed problem which seeems ok. I filled the big arse tank as well, it had bugger all fuel in it and took 23 litres which surprised me I thought it would have held more
It ran great, its nice to have a ride before you have to start your day at work even on the black topTB
Actually light at the end of the tunnel as far as being busy goes  . Have just got an update re the parts, build will start sooner than I thought :woohoo:
