Thanks for the write up Wally, I really like “real” people’s thoughts and experiences, someone that has spent the time and coin and can say it as they see it without worry about them advertising in their magazine

Cheers

adam wrote:Sounds like the gear dogs have worn and under pressure the get forced out, ie the selector fork can’t hold the gear in (not that it’s meant to hold it in, its only meant to select the gear and the dogs lock in).Saw a similar thing on a WR450. It had sent the selector fork blue.
The fix is to strip it down and replace the worn parts.
When its apart you’ll see tha fault its usually obvious.
Sam’s third gear on his KTM250 had a different problem. It felt like neutral, no jumping at all. The gear dogs litterally blew off and were sitting in the bottom of the box.
I may still have the WR gears here I’ll have a look and post a photo.
Below is Sam’s problem

Australia and NZ form the major market for WRF models. Which is incredible when you compare the local population with Europe and US. But thanks to our love of riding in the bush combined riding access and local laws, down under is where most WRF models will be sold. This is great news because it means Aussies get a say in development. And who better to have that say than enduro legend and WRF racer Geoff Ballard? just copyed this of the yamaha australia web site think they may no where they sell there bikes ? but who cares sounds like aido is going to get one and tell us if its any good

OK Rocket you are right
I couldnt argue with a sales brochure, a sales line or a salesman
