I would have thought around 5000rpm max for extended periods. A XR 250 max revs are 8500 thats red line 5 or 6 for cruising you wouldnt drive you car down the road at 5500 if it red lined at 6500 would you

Boony what has it got to with it :P You would be surprised the amount of transport you do when you race the A4DE.

I reckon every bike is different even if it’s the same bike (does that make sense model etc I mean) engines have a sweet spot it will love to sit on and that won’t be gearing related it is all engine and you gear the bike around that sweet spot the engine has.

Take your bike out cruise around and you will fit a spot the engine likes to cruise and does it easy. Just my thoughts, see you can over gear it ( easy with a little 250 ) throw sprockets at it and find it won’t pull it, is always lugging sucking fuel. Whatever gearing you are running go one tooth bigger on the front and see how it goes, the chain shouldn’t need lengthening and it’s a cheap way to try it out

Beags I have tried them twice with different pressures and reckon the fronts are rubbish. They dont grip, wear too fast and heal and toe IMO, I did try different pressures because the first one heal and toed so fast. The rear gripped ok, but lasted only 2900kms of nearly all dirt !! They are more expensive than the Dunlop 606’s which are a heap better tyre IMO.

After all the tyres I have tried on the Tenere my fav for fast committed dirt work on a big loaded bike is Dunlop 907 front, and Mitas E09 rear. I havent run a Mitas E09 front yet, reckon you should try a set of them Eags, E09’s front and rear. Steve probably has them in stock, they will be a tad dearer but they do the miles (well I know the rears do) and the front looks as though it wont heal and toe. The 907 wont handle a lot of black top so dont try one of those for to and from work

    E09’s ;)

Looks like Hollis and Price are the boys to beat so far.

Go Hollis!!! Wauchope born and bred!!

Ha ha you would have supported Hitler if he came from Wauchope

My moneys on Price, not because he isnt from Wauchope Mick just like Beags said he his hard to beat. Would like to see Hollis do well but cause he has had a pretty lean last year. He has been on the pace of late though

I forgot it was on, is Grabbo riding or out cause of the wrist he broke in Finke?

Eagle there is a good chance you will see me at Freemans Servo for the 7:30 am start or would it be easier to meet at pines at 8am? Not sure what or where pines is..

Krusty you have been to the pines, its the intersection where you fiddled with your head light after the Mountain bike tracks remember then we rode with Nick to Laguna and you left us to go home.

I reckon you will have to leave as early to get to the Pines as to get to Freemans. There are about 10 turns from the freeway to the pines and 1 from the freeway to Freemans

I could do you a GPS route to the Pines if you want maybe?
