Rego 109 + 283 GS = 391 a year for the XR
Ride it 45 times a year = $8.69 per ride
8.68 per ride people you spend more on petrol per ride, more on energy bars and snakes more on beers after the ride

My rego is 110, obviously the RTA feel sorry for you riding that bike. 😆
Hatto
Actually I questioned that myself Hatto and the RTA said as yours is a shit box it will end up as land fill where mine never will the extra money you pay is a dumping shit in the land fill tax

And because it’s such shit they can only charge a dollar  See good for nothing now piss off with the rest of the sheep Hatto

a few points a lot, actually a hell of a lot of professional riders use MX bikes with tweaks as race bikes for enduro, the national H&Hound series in the USA is basically dominated by MX bikes, 2T at that.
Now I know most of us aren’t even at clubman level if we were competitiors, however some of us like a responsive bike.
There have been many examples of factories fitting bikes out with ADR type equipment and then seeling them as “enduro”
And the qualifications to descern betwixt bikes… well I have been race prepping and building bikes for myself and others since well teenage years. this is not rocket science it’s very basic stuff the only real areas that can’t be easily tweaked is lateral bump absorption as typically an MXer has more frame feedback and is stiffer in the headstock area and runds a slightly shorter wheelbase, which to me is more conducive to ST anyway.Enduro bikes on a whole are far more “boring to ride” someone said the MXers had less lowend power, well mostly this is a furphy, they mostly have less inertia, flywheel effect, in fact they have more power everywhere for a given capacity.
Bruce as someone here I have the utmost respect for, I say with all due respect to the above, wake up mate it’s 2011. Really mate 15 years ago some of that was true. Bikes can now be tuned by a switch on the bars a power valve spring etc. They all turn now and if they don’t you move the bars to one of the three positions that they have etc they all have great suspension. Saying that enduro bikes are boring to ride is a dangerous statement which I think is silly and only looking for what I don’t know (I don’t ride either as such) the KTM race team won everything enduro there was to win in Australia last year with ADR enduro bikes.
I think you are making this to much about you and your case riding an older bike like me and two strokes and as for you rego going up by more than double well mate you should have kept it regoed in QLD. You like MX bikes that’s great but we arent driving that barrow we are talking about costs plain and simple.
Sorry Bruce

And dry it completely

KTM Rat used to put his between newspaper and two bits of ply wood and park the car on it to squeeze the water out he told me. Knowing Rat that would be true

As Menace said would be interesting to use until you got used to it  Factoryphil’s GSX600 track bike has an electric upshift only setup

menace wrote:i dont think there is anything wrong with that easy cleaning, no toiling type of filter oil.in fact i’d go as far as saying its user error that causes this problem.
if the instructions are read properly for this product, it will be noticed that the filters are to be left out to dry before being reinstalled. the spirit based emulsion needs to eveporate to leave the active ingrediants stuck to the filter. if the filter is not dry before installation (when it is dry, it losses its chalky look) the imulsion, including the all important oil will drain out.
i leave mine out to dry overnight, on some newspaper, seal side down.
i thought everybody did this??looks like a poor tradesman blaming his tools to me
  :laugh:You could be right Menace, I am only offering an opinon from trying different brands etc speaking to people at the dusty meetings where you ride 750kms in the pack sucking dust :pinch: To check yours and others theories mine included I will do 3 separate filters with No Toil, Castrol spray and Bel Ray or Motul I will video each one being done and follow the instructions to the letter. After two weeks we will be able to check on video if they still have the oil in the filters. I have seen the results which is why I wrote this but will do the experiment under controled conditions to confirm for myself as well. If I am wrong I am wrong won’t be the first time
Even last night I picked up a bike that I am fixing for a guy that’s been dusted and closed the inlet valves (DR400) I will do a step by step on the repair to show the effects of dust entry and how to remove and reinstall the head and get it running 4 stroke style
Like I said before I don’t care who uses what I only wrote this because I keep seeing dusted bikes more often than not from people taking short cuts and cheaper options. There have been some great tips here on the thread including the news paper, the tomato sauce bottle, filter skins, the hair dryer etc BTW the clothes dryer works great when the minister isn’t around
The two stroke guys are laughing it isn’t as critical on a two strokes nor on an old XR
but the modern four stroke it isTB
That’s a ripper Chris well done, Little man you are a unit
