Are you doing the commission road loop Tramo? There are a couple of great rides from Colo to Putty itself and then the commission road track does a good loop to bring you out back on the Putty about 22kms closer to singleton. The commission track has some wicked windrows, be careful when jumping them as the backs are hollowed out

Let me know if you are interested in the Colo Heights to Putty sections I could show you if you don’t know them

On a serious note it’s in good nick and for a trail rider I reckon they are the pick of the 450’s

Wow that press for a crank on the dirty floor, I said to Mick that has to be tool of the year if it wasnt for Boony  Honestly Dickie spend the money and have a crank kit put in professionally or buy a crank like cycle tune said. You won’t be able to get it lined up on the floor with that abortion of a home made press :cheer: I reckon your engineering is worth it’s weight in gold and top marks for thought and effort. At 9000 rpm it will need to be balanced just right, after all it’s not a TA20 Massey ferguson tractor

I have moved this thread out of the tech section because well a few reasons one I couldn’t help myself, some of the posts while not being tech fit for the tech section were gold :cheer:

    Go luck with it Dickie

Just changed my air filter and there is a large puddle of oil in the air filter box between the air filter and the carby. It is red so I’m assuming that it is engine oil not air filter oil (blue). It may be petrol and oil I didn’t really check that hard. Is this a sign of something I should be rectifying. It’s a 300 2T.

Does the gearbox breather run into the air box Roy? I didn’t think they did but am wrong often  That’s the ONLY way it could get they isn’t it ;) sounds like filter oil but like you said the oil is a different colour  What filter oil do you use out of interest? You havent switched filter oils recently have you?

I am not stressing TB, I am going riding and a heap of dudes are just following me at their own free will. Just need an idea how many other dudes will be out on the same trail as me. They might want lunch or fuel at the pre organised vendors of the said products and if said vendors have an idea of how many proposed customers they may have in one foul swoop, the faster things might happen at said outlets.

    That’s all.
All handy info. For some one going for a ride, with a heap of dudes following.

    Arent you

The ride will start in Gunning NSW at the Telegraph Hotel Gunning Contact for the hotel is (02) 4845 1217

    See Here

They have rooms at the moment so get on it and remember we are staying there on the Thursday night the 31st of March as we are leaving the next morning at 7.30am
Please organise your our accommodation at the Hotel or wherever you wish in Gunning if you are going.

The trip will take us to such places as Omeo, Dargo, Swifts Creek, Corryong, Hotham Heights Village, Ensay, Davies Plain, Tom Groggin, Jindabyne, Old Adaminaby to name but a few locations. There is also the chance to ride up to the top of Blue Rag if you are game  The ride finishes in Gunning on the Monday the 4th afternoon, read afternoon whenever we get there no set time!

The plan is to camp every night once we leave Gunning depending where we are, that means we can ride and don’t end up wasting a couple of hours sitting it out because the next accommodation is to far away ;) Maybe we will stay somewhere one night but it’s not planned.

Required fuel range is 300kms plus to be safe, 350 is better. Please make sure you have the basics for your bike including a spark plug as there will be over 70 creek crossings I reckon, Kram basic means at least one tube ( it will be rocky in spots ) joiner link, and whatever you think you won’t want because getting you and your broken down bike out of the Vic high country would be a costly exercise 😆

The mapping is finished, Mickp has provided some of the route to Omeo and from Jindabyne to Gunning on the return. Middle sections will be run off route sheets not GPS. The route total Gunning to Gunning is 1352kms meaning we need to day 338kms a day or there a bouts. There is one 60 km bitumen section which is Googin to Jindabyne and is unavoidable. There will be small sections as we run in and out of towns. There will be longs hills, lots of creeks and an adventure I promise.

    Going are

    TB
    Nickj

    Boulder
    Fish

    Tryhard
    Gavb

    Mickp
    Lotsa

    Moose
    Kram

    Owl 02
    Krusty

    Steve adventure Moto
    Steves mate

And then when we get back to the Canberra area Kram, Moose, Nickj and Myself are continuing for another four days from Canberra, via forests and dirt tracks to Mittagnong, then we will take the proper Caves to Caves route we used for the birthday ride a few years ago. Once we come out at the bitumen at the top of the caves we we go left instead of down to the caves, back into the forest thru to the Oberon Rd using tracks from the Hampton ride this year. F
rom there onto where we meet Mal5.1 and Donna on the start of the Camerons ride. Across into Sunny corner and work our way to Bathurst out thru Ophir then Long Point to Hillend pub. There to Sofala out thru the Turon river and the hard route with all the creek crossing to Capertee, Garden of stone, black fellows hand trail, mt Wilson, Mt Lagoon, Colo Heights, wheel barrow ridge, St Aburns, Kulnura, Yengo, Putty, Bulga, the Watagns. That’s the bail out for Kram and Moose and then home for everyone

If everyone can confirm if they are going please.

Is it standard to replace the conrod? the idea of splitting it myself was to check the condition of the conrod and save $$

If it did a big end like I thought I read the rod will be unserviceable ( read rooted ) besides I can’t ever remember buying a big end on it’s own
