I reckon you are better of with a better setup at the rear like soft bags which holds more than the loop you have. I find the tank bags very restrictive and am very careful of which rides I will use mine now. Soft pannier style bags help to get your weight down low and dont restrict your movements on the bike.

Jacob Smith finished 19th for the day but he did have a major crash. He has damaged his shoulder and rearranged the navigation equipment, but he’ll be starting on a straightened machine tomorrow. At present the penalty accrued on Day 9 still stands. While the team are still campaigning for its reduction they are fairly sure there will still be something imposed. He stands in 39th place, but were the penalty be completely revoked he would return to 26th place overall.

Quote:Thanks TB…how does the new steering damper feel on the road? i.e. in general and compared to the old steering damper?
Haven’t tested it yet
Also, what exactly do you mean when you say “…it needed a spacer between the rubber mounts and the bracket”? What did you use for the spacer? It looks like a black bracket of some sort…please excuse the ignorance lol.
Hard to explain, need to show or you need to know how the rubbers mounts look I think, used hardened washers
Overall how much does it lift the bars if you didn’t already have bar raisers?
About 25 – 30mm I think but can measure it later and get back to you, I also fitted higher bend bars as well for the hrs that will be spent standingI agree the black steering damper does look great with the gold fat bars!
Yeah they do :woohoo:Regards Mick
:cheer:I have a Giant loop Fandango tank bag Krusty and am super happy with it, it has been through the rain on the Cameron ride and the hail and thunder storms on my last outing and never leaked, plenty of room and pockets. I know it’s not the one you are looking at but wanted to add it as the giant loop stuff is good quality.

SOLDFitted my damper today, wasnt the easiest damper I have ever fitted I have to say but worked out great

Original setup with bar risers

The ignition cover needs to come off, two phillip screws

Once the cover was removed it reveled the steering lock bolts are shear bolts. Once they are tight they shear and it prevents people unbolting the steering lock

I drilled a small hole in the cente and once I was sure it was in the centre I drilled it as big as I dared below the head height

I then used a drill bigger than the bolt shaft size to get rid of the head

I used an easy out and removed both bolts

Both bolts out, ready for the pin bracket

Once done I removed the standard bar mounts and mounted the bar mount bracket, it needed a spacer between the rubber mounts and the bracket

It was now I discovered I hadn’t listened to Steve when he said it is a fat bar mount, I flew down got Suttos and got a few sets of bars so I could try a few before I decided. (try that with your cheap US web shops  )
Once a set was found I bolted it all up and happy days

I then drilled and tapped a thread to mount my GPS

The only other thing need was a fat bat bark buster mount kit

 Mirrors and rear guard bag are next, then the grip warmers will go on,,,NOT
new front sprocket will go on when it turns up, and the smaller rear sprocket will be going on soon..I want me dirt bike back
ahhh well its for a good cause, to catch up and have a beer with some mates

Boony the adventure virgin
:cheer: [quote]Don’t come then Boony
You didn’t need you change anything though really maybe a sprocket really only a front 15 will do it. You have chosen a soft cock main dirt road route  I dont understand why, you reckon you had singles to Gingers, well then there would be fire trails over there as well. Why not get a good route rather than the dirt road?
Also what good cause???? It’s just a bike ride and a piss up
One last thing, you said you want you dirt bike back. I only saw the DR in the picture, where is the dirt bike you are missing

Quote:You may find that because you have the SW Motech crash bars the B&B radiator guard with not fit.I was going to fit a B&B or Radguard however because I have the Hepco& Becker crash bars they would not fit because of the cross brace…you may have the same problem with the SW Motech cross brace.
I saw one at Bathurst last year that had the same bars as mine and the guard so I hope when get one it will fit
It will fit one way or another
