Pork Chop is a funny sort of hill. You hear all about it and the anticipation is there before you arrive. You see it for the first time a few km’s out and you really get scared as it looks even bigger than it’s reputation. You arrive at the bottom and think, bit rough but I reckon I got a chance, maybe it’s not as bad as it looked from the distance. You then have multiple goes and only get up the bottom third and you ride off into the sunset with hopefully only your pride dented. It costs more if your bike is dented though.

I shat myself in the 2006 A4DE when I saw it in the distance and knew thats what was coming up  then there was two arrows fast way (up pork chop) slow way (pork chop) nearly everyone even world class riders went around we were told be spectators

Day 3 same hill and the KING, yes KING CRASH with nothing to lose as he was a restart (DNF’ed day 2) rode straight up first go   on the mighty HRC kitted XR400

    All hail the KING

I see the 2XL polo is gone, so I’ll go for a 2XL jersey. Any color will do, as long as it’s black and white to suit the rest of my gear.

$69 is bloody cheap B) normaly $99 I dont think there would be to much at risk for that, especially if only trail ridden. I know Murphs young fella goes pretty good on his 2 hungey and would be the same cost as getting it welded! No brainer for me, I think I would give em a try B)

    Ollie

Yeah if you pay 99 bucks to have it welded your right no brainer ;)

Oh and get cheaper welder

    But trail riding yeah :)

I looked at them Ollie, they maybe ok but I have learnt a lot about rims in the last 2 years especially building wheels and will never buy anything but SM pro or Excel rims again. The Yokos I cant get anymore but they arent the quality of SM pros or Excels it has turned out over time although they went OK. DID’s I reckon produce the least pinch flats

They are to cheap makes me suss, dont get me wrong I buy stuff from Torpedo but I would like someone else to try them  Krusty get a black set I will lace them for a small fee and watch with interest ;)

Sorry Bana my facts weren’t exactly correct time age etc  and it wasn’t a go at you personally it’s the only DR I know that has been extensively modified. It was reliable as the day was long before any work was done, as we rode everywhere together in those days it was always there purring away. The point I was and am making is normally the more you modify an engine for performance gains the more unreliable it becomes as we both know. That’s not mentioning time, effort, money etc that you have done trying cams, dyno testing, jetting, air intakes and now exhausts. Don’t get me wrong I like fiddling as much as the next mechanic and there is no price on a labour of love and a quick bike in the end.
Yes it’s been reliable since the last rebuild but as you would admit you have really ridden it much either like the old days, I would guess knowing you and your 2 job schedule and say it hasn’t done 3000kms?? To a stock DR400 3000kms isn’t a run to the local store. Much bigger and safer performance gains to be made with correctly setup suspension IMO was all I meant.

It was great catching up on the way back from Cobar when Nickj and I bumped into you and I would like to come for a ride with you and Bob when he is back. I will stay in touch
