I didnt jinx you Mick. STOP SAYING THAT!!! its not my fault OK I didnt know you had the bits to put it back together mate. The first I knew was when I saw the post that it was back together. I have had to pull engines I have built apart before because of parts recall etc (before they have been finished) over the many years I have been building them and I know how it feels. I really felt when I spoke to you the morning after you posted it was finished you just blew me off, I wouldnt just mention it for kicks it was important. I have generally made all the mistakes at work and personally :P so if you can learn from my mistakes at least then they haven’t been wasted

Goose could be a little hard, maybe  Maybe you sharing your “whole” experience could save someone from doing the same. I mean I couldnt save you from doing it, when I rang you and asked you would have only been down a base and head gasket $30 tops but you wouldnt belive me I felt. I was 15 when I did it and tried to save you doing it, now you can save everybody else doing it. Roles reversed I am sure you would like to know. Then you wont feel so bad for you ringing me going “you f*#king jinxed me you *$(#” can be like you saying sorry to me for calling me a *$(# when I was only trying to help you :)

    Just a thought :)

That is all I can say. The thing was running sweet as and was going like the clappers for about an hour, untill it blew the bigend, which in turn took out the F@*King brand new piston with it…

For Fu3ks sake!!! Got out of it cheap my arse. F@8K I hate shit like that.

If anyone says anything smart, I will jump in my car and come and punch you in the neck.

Oh well it is only money, time and another lesson learnt (albeit an expensive lesson)

Well I am not afraid of being punched in the neck by you Monty (cause I dont have a neck, because you are old and crusty and you wont travel to kew  ) so I will say ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    Are you fielding questions?

Yeah maybe, didnt really defend his title real well here before he went overseas on the husky either. He hasnt had a result since he left by his standard hopefully he will regain his mojo on the WR in Australia with Ballards :)

TB said his oil looked good after its time was up but like you Roy mine was black as. The WR only holds 1.5 l and the YZ is more like 1 l I bet the XR would hold 2 at least?? Do they run the CRF setup with separate compartments for the trans/ crank case. I recon most of the black comes from the clutch? But I doubt different oil would change that.

Yeah mate it holds around 2 litres. Yes the CRF runs separate compartments. I would rather drain my oil looking good then it looking spent because that spent oil is in your engine

We did a test with a fleet years ago when I was at Cat. We oil sampled 4 trucks on a cheaper oil and 4 on a more expensive oil. All the trucks did the same work and belonged to the same guy. The oil samples showed wear rates went up at very early as the oil broke down with the lower quality / cheaper oil. The oil change intervals needed to come back to 7,000kms. The more expensive / better quality oil went to 15,000kms before it started to break down and changing was required. Neither oil was Cats own brand (Castrol both) To get the oil changes to 20,000kms where the owner wanted them we had to increase the oil capacity, more oil more kms before it breaks down.

I think in my opinion with the small oil capacity of modern 4 strokes I would run the best oil I could because a) they are expensive to rebuild b) it would give me piece of mind when riding c) you use such a small amount are you really saving much by using cheaper oil

    Thanks for clearing that up.

AS for Motul 5100 at $42.00 for 4 litres……wish we could get it at that price up here. More like $70 of the shelves around these parts.

You can buy it from the same place, buy a 20 litre for all your bikes (even cheaper) Myself or Moose will deliver it ;)

Then you can whinge abouts something else
