Oil is cheap compared to an engine build. I use Motul 5100 10w/50. I have used it in my last 3 bikes and continue to with the Tenere, and the XR650R. My previous XR600 has to date done well over 40k and the XR650R has done almost that and neither has been rebuilt. The only work done was a clutch in the 600 and it wasn’t the problem anyway  Both these bikes have also seen a fair amount of racing in that time.

I pay around $42 for 4 litres of the Motul 5100 and would recommend to anyone because of the service I have got from it. The XR normally gets 500km changes but has done events like the Condo750 where it’s done over 1000kms and the oil still looked good.

Oil starts a whole lot of emotionally charged opinions and views ask around and settle on what makes you happy. Good oil and change it regularly

I wonder if you can retrofit the new peg section to the older pivot/mounts?

Buy a set for the young blokes bike and put my 50mm on his and take the 60mm for my bigger feet?

My understanding is Bruce that the only difference is they are 10mm wider. I will e mail Allan and ask him to confirm mate

I heard he hasnt been able to secure a factory ride and is pissed they wont support him so he doesnt want to been seen riding anyone of their bikes even if he has to pay for them  If you have a frame made with the same mount points and steering angles, fit it with any brand forks and shock you can call it what you want but its hardly a new bike. It maybe a diferent frame but then its the same as any other bike out there in the AMA

Still I will be watching with interest

Layman terms, (cause I am at work  ) a piston going up and down draws a certain amount of air into the cylinder, bigger the piston more air. If you jet for a 300cc cylinder against a 249cc you wont have the correct air fuel ratio because you dont have the same amount of air thus you air fuel ratio would be wrong

It would run but I would think from fiddling with Chris’s when I kitted his to a 300 it wouldnt be any good. I could be wrong, I only said be careful ;)
