DID are OK, take it and try it Murph got nothing to lose mate. Try a good alloy welder maybe cost 20 or 30 bucks worth the try I reckon
If that fails buy a rim cheap enough and easy to lace, although get a spoke spanner and some possums piss (WD40) and start making sure all the nipples are free or gently free them upTB
