So while repairing the, ummm lets say lay down damage, I had to replace a radiator hose. No biggy went to Supercheap auto with the 16mm ID diameter hose with two bends it went through their heater hose selection and got one :)

Went home straightened the bent crash bar mounting bolt and mount bracket no problems, fitted the new hose and went to fill the cooling system and  Mr Yamaha you need to wake up to yourself and pull your head out of you a#*e and have a think  . You cant fill the radiator with ANY CONTAINER or ANY FUNNEL OF ANY DISCRIPTION end of story

Look at the distance between the fuel tank and the filler neck

    P8010001640x480.jpg

Imagine filling that on the side of and outback track

    P8010002640x480.jpg

    P8010003640x480.jpg

So I had to come up with this shit fight

    P8010006640x480.jpg

    P8010007640x480.jpg

Not happy Yamaha :( I do the as my trade and reckon I had seen my fair share of design faults / poor access to vital maintance functions  by this takes the cake

Did I mention that you have to use and allen key and remove 5 allen headed screws with washers to even look in there, thats only something else to drop in the red dirt and lose

    Shame Yamaha Shame

As stated above I’ve got the all bells & whistles Garmin Extrex Vista HCX, I think all it has over the Legend is the altimeter.

Downside is if you are to run from 12v power like I did for over 2weeks touring Tasmania on the Roadie the power connection is from a mini USB Connection & the power socket has a 12v-3v reduction. This connection compromises the Waterproof side of the unit & I don’t know how it would go with a lot of vibration. It also chews batteries unless you turn all the features off, bonus of 12v power is constant backlight

I looked at the 60CSx or whatever they were after buying mine & it has a better socket for the 12v connection (more robust)& maybe runs on direct 12v (don’t quote me). Essentially the Highend Etrex & 60 series Garmins are the same software in two different housings albeit the 60 has a larger screen.

If I was to buy again between the two it wouldn’t be the Etrex.

I realise you have the Etex mount already, small price for a new mount for a more robust GPS

I am aware of the power adapter and have been worried how it would go with the vibration etc
I was dreaming about a Garmin Nuvu 550 but the cost is prohibiting it I feel. I will keep looking but a Garmin 60Csx is high on the list now for sure

Have been cruising http://www.ja-gps.com.au/ and rang them and found them super helpful

    Thanks
