Whatever from a car with stickers for headlights whatever
Funny how the kids burr up when you go through the bog holes, very nearly bogged the Tenere today
 but got it through.Lochie kept saying how much more comfortable the Tenere is over the NX which is good considering we did 300 odd kays he will sleep tonight

Mal you know when you run towards the darlington causeway and it changes to bitumen to run up the hill there is a track of to the left and it winds up between the valley on the left. We followed it for a while

After a great feed at Gingers Creek I discovered time was in fact getting away and we needed to push on, it was lucky we did because later that evening it really paid of

Fueled and on our way I quickly became lost normally I am really good with directions but was struggling here  We turned of the Oxley Hwy about 3 kays from Gingers Creek and there was a large group of bike there some with Trailmate stickers and yeah lo and behold Husky bloke sings out “you TB?” So a quick hello and away we went. Micks coffee had helped him and he was setting a cracking pace on the ol girl and it had smoothed up a bit. I was struggling with the front end. We seemed to run along the tops of the ridges for ages with a beautiful view to be grabbed if you stole a look at times. We came to one intersection and we had a discussion regarding directions and we headed for Mt George, again Mick was setting a flying and I was enjoying seeing the NX being used as it is a great bike. I had sort of adapted a style that had me and the Tenere traveling better Jeffro said  I pulled Mick up for a breather as he was in the zone and we hadn’t had a break for a long time but we decided as we weren’t far from Mt George we would stop there.
Well Mt George was that a thriving metropolitan NOT  We parked in the main drag actually the whole town was a drag

Moose pointed out his headlight drama and with dark coming they needed to get going. We dicked around with directions maps technology and some rough directions from Moose and we left Mt George. Not far down the road I pulled up and said to Jeffro would you like a ride of the Tenere. Now most people sort of go yeah ok in a casual sort or way to not act to keen, but not Jeffro he almost knocked me down getting on I only just had time to yell as he rode of I wanted it back before he got home
I jumped on the hard narrow plank of a thing Suzuki call a seat and took of, man its geared low and rev’s the DR to do 100. I found myself sitting on 92 because I didnt want to rev it anymore
and was shocked later when Jefrro said he was sitting on 110 + on the way to Micks, good things those DR’s but thats no secret. As soon as I rode of on the DR I noticed the rear wheel seemed to have a wobble which I put down to either a buckled rim or a tyre not beaded properly. About 10kms later we came to the intersection Moose had told us about and turned right Jeffro was back on the DR and all was sweet (for now)
We came to a little town and there was a optional direction that we couldnt decide and our tour guides hadnt mentioned but we sorted it and left town. I stopped at the out going 100 kay signs to tell Jeffro something and he said “look at this” Showing of his wobbling back wheel. Judging by how quickly it had come started and got as bad as it did there was no way it would go far. It was 30+ something kays to Gloucester so we decided to limp to Gloucester and I would race ahead and see what was open. I got to about 7 kays from Gloucester and had phone range so I rang a mate there and he said there is no hope of getting anything here

I waited on the side of the road and when Jeffro and Boulder turned up the wheel was real bad (photos he posted earlier in this thread show how bad and the damage its done
)and the decision was made to go the a farm leave the bike I would double Jeffro and he would come back the next day in the ute and get it.Once done I had my bitch on the back we left stopped at Stroud for a burger it was getting cooler we carried on to the Raymond Terrence turn off where I sent Boulder on home. I dropped Jeffro of and added some extra layers of clothing and sooted home getting there just after 8.30pm
Cheers for the lead Mick, Moose for the directions (with Mick) and the ride up the Wauchope, Jeffro for the ride and Boulder for being a tough old bugger

So where are the people that had the tyre changing dramas on the Sofala ride
What about all the aspiring super sweeps, people thinking about doing a race or two in the future, those that what to be able to help themselves or someone else on the trail

Kat I am doing an adventure ride of sorts from say Mt Victoria to out around Hampton via heaps of tracks etc
PM me if you are interested
TB
So Kat whats you movements tomorrow?
So I travelled up with Moose on the friday, actually Moose was coming here to pick the NX up for Mick as he purchased it from me. I asked Moose if the Tenere and I could hitch a ride he said yes, so I said can the Tenere go on the tray and the NX go on the trailer cause it doesnt matter if it falls off
So Moose turned up we juggled bikes etc and got out of the way and set sail its all good. We had a pretty good run and got up to the Mayors, which was good because rider X was there to help us unload the Tenere of the tray of the Volkswagen
Down in the shed and I started fitting the new GPS to the Tenere.

Mick started fitting my big tank to his bike which he soon gave up on. The shed party was in full swing as per normal they came and went. Yes I said the Tenere was made in France once or twice but I am sure it was only once to each person that turned up, Micks just a eaves dropping busy body

XRtrailhack fronted to prove he is real

Bollocks turned up with his family a sleep in the car drunk a quick Bundy and bolted

The NX under went the offical hand over, and I sold the tank bag to Mick as well as it doesnt fit the Tenere. Mick didnt what to fit the bars he had for it and yet he still whinged the next day they are to low to stand

So one of my final acts in the shed was to leave my grip warmers on
, yes batt flattery in the morning. But hey if I didnt have that to do I would have only been doing something for Mick

We went and fueled stopped for a group shot early cause well I suspected Mick was going to do an Eagle  Nah sorry Eagle he didnt make halfway *

Of we went, I hear Mick checking something with Moose at a intersection out of town and find out he is going to make a change to the route. Of we go thru some nice dirt roads, then some over grown tracks and some rougher sections. Quickly I realise I have a lot to learn in the adventure bike world as I have loaded the top bag way to heavy and its way back and to heavy and acts as a big pendulum counter swinging every movement I make
The too soft rear suspension is sagging and taking weight of the front end causing the front end to run wide all the time. But I was still managing a good pace. We did a couple of small creek crossings and I passed Mick on a trail to give it the beans for a bit. Nice roost Mick reckons.
I watched Jeffro near flip the banana  we rode on until we had a break at this creek crossing
Jeffro showing some style

Moose feet up and dry

Boulder, good as gold

Me all legs  You can see the big bag up the back heavy and high causing my drama
We continued on for a while, there was a discussion regarding an intersection through an area that reminded me of the VIC high country. My rear bag fell of and we stopped at an intersection again sorting directions as there was maps and GPS’s and Mick and Moose’s trying to remember as it had been a long time since both had been up here.

From here we ran onto the oxley hwy thru some spectacular country dirt and bitumen sections. Again I stretched the Tenere’s legs thru the dirt sections and ran out to the Hwy with Jeffro chasing

From there to Gingers creek for brunch, I was cruising along at the speed limit when Moose came up and we continued at a better speed limit until I let him go as the knobbies started to scare me at the safe speed limits we did.
Once at Gingers we had a laugh and waited for the others and enjoyed a great breakfast.
More to come later.
* something may have been written to get a bite as if he hasnt already today
The Tenere came through unlike others Looselink

That may have been a sight Mick yes, it was a sight that have said “there are two guys making the end of their ride with grit and determination, not just abandoning their co riders in the middle of no where and running of and leaving them to break down in the middle of no where, friends looking after friends doing what they said they would”

And dont use Moose as a scape goat again
Now Mick if you can get on with a decent ride report and leave everybody elses alone I will post the pictures you took which are good
