I was told by the anodiser that hubs are cast and cast from crap alloy and when anodised the rough casting is full of pitting and the anodising then looks like crap

Billet for strength, mine are powder coated and haven’t been to bad. I am now looking and have priced Talon billet hubs this morning for the strength more then looks. I will then lace them with extra heavy duty spokes

Mate I dont know really how to explain it  I know when you have off set wheels its real hard. I will be doing a video tuition in the future

Thanks to TB for helping with the strip down and piecing it back together as well as doing some of the leg work for me.. I couldn’t have done it in 2 weeks time without him..

I used various businesses in the last excercise:

Big thanks to Suttos Penrith – Various bits bought
Yeah Thanks Mal as always, this is the third project bike I have been involved with as always Mal you come through, be it a Suzuki motard project bike, a A4DE assault with a Husky or an XR400 refurb thanks champ ;)

Anodizers Mortdale – Rims Anodized –
They anodised the rims for this project and the Mayors for $88.00 per set including the G bargain in anyone’s language. If you are thinking about getting your rims done I recommend them, for a tiny fee I will also strip your rims and re-lace them after they are done

Wow that was a lot of work, building both the wheels was the hardest with Chris asking questions while I was trying to think. All the suspension bushes got replaced, wheel bearings seals and the headset bearings it was a complete end to end that should be explained. It was the first Edelbrock pumper carb I have fitted and without any instructions took some thinking. Once the throttle tube and cables were lubed happy days. It was good seeing Chris get excited about learning bits and pieces tricks using sockets to push bearings etc.

    Some photos I took

Back wheel when I finished assembling it, rim anodised, hub painted and new spokes, front the same, also fitted new disc’s

Well the Kenda was only my 2nd mass bike rally and I reckon will be my last. The tracks were great typically high country so I wasnt disappointed. The amount of tools, gooses, boy racers, and f*#k*%ts amazed me and I was expecting it. The risks these dicks took to pass obvious trailriders was mind boggling   It reached the point that I saw a guy take himself and a slower rider out I stopped to say “who is a *&#*@&% now!” And there was another incident but that aside it was great and worth the drive.

    Highlights for me

    – the drive with Mal5.1 and Nick “the Bubba” Morley
    – How well the event was organised
    – The weather and the trail conditions
    – Meeting XY, Aido, Bill, Little Dave, Choppa, and Jak (thats a huge bitch :P )
    – Our accommodation
    – The fire (well organised Menace, you and I know a 2IC is only as good as the instructions he is given ;) )
    – The nice friendly organisers and checkpoint people
    – Meeting the Lovely Bec, way cooler then Bubba
    – How much Mal wanted to learn regarding trucks, engines etc
    – Bubba getting escorted out of McDonalds Yass on the way down
    – Listening to Bubba go on for 1789kms about wanting a McDonalds dinner box
    – Setting up camp at Albury and standing around having a bundy at midnight friday night
    – Again riding and chatting with Mal5.1
    – Watching Bills enthusiasm to learn how to change a tyre and seeing him get involved
    – Watching Aido crap his pants about backing his trailer
    – Watching Aido crap his pants at the start of the ride
    – Watching Aido crap his pants and back out of the Nolan Dash
    – Watching Aido crap his pants about anything
    – Donna White rocky road and XYs rocky road.
    – Having a beer with the Menace never a dull moment
    – Camping at the Ettamogah Pub friday night
    – Bubba opening a Bundy @ 7.10am saturday morning for his breakfast
    – Bubba in general :P sweeeeeeeeeetttttttttt

    Low points

    None really

Oh and yes TB and I took the soft (easy) route. I made a decsion that there would probably be a bottle neck at any hard section, so enjoyed a fast open trail ride with no one else around and TB thought he might catch up with his new friend on a WR who was roosting the hell out of everyone he passed. Didn’t see him though. Lucky for him I reckon.

I concur to the above decision and gave no argument only my full support I didnt need to be in a bottle neck with some of the knobs that were riding and there was some f*#!&$ts there. The other thought was I can ride hills anytime  ;)
