Everybody has a different feel when setting valves mate. You should have a slight drag on the feeler gauge when you pull in it between the rocker and valve, remember a slight drag. Get a set of the correct clearance feeler gauges as you know already you a 0.10mm (0.003) for the intake and exhaust is 0.12mm (0.004) are needed for the 600.

To adjust take the spark plug out and rotate the engine with the kick starter or like Mick said a 17mm on the flywheel bolt so that the exhaust valve has just open, and then shut and the intake valve is just about to open. You will feel with the screw driver that the piston is at TDC and the T mark will show through the LHS inspection hole. This is not the correct TDC. Rotate the motor a little further and you will notice the intake valve open up. Keep rotating slowly and you will feel the piston rise again to another TDC. This is the correct TDC to adjust the valve clearance from. If you look through the top LHS inspection hole now, you should see the letter T.
Also check the decompression lever adjustment and adjust if required so it is not affecting the rocker arm action and only touches the rocker arm when you pull the decompression lever.

Rocket check out the range of gel batteries for your bike they are more expensive but will put up with more abuse, cant leak upside down and have good cca ratings. Just a thought if you are keeping it for a while ;)

If you want to get whatever battery Sutto’s has down there or they recommend I will get it freighted for you again or bring it to the 4 day mate :)

Bruce, I have seen race trucks that have a setup to spray a fine mist of water over the front of the aftercooler mounted at the front of the truck of course. The reason behind it is the mist cools the air and the aftercooler core, colder air goes through the intercooler thus cooling the air in the intercooler cold air more oxygen etc etc more power.

Couldn’t see it working at speed because of the obvious reasons, although at the start it would be cooled for maximum power at take off maybe

    Yeah good thread Moto

Exactly Moto ;) you should remember that if the cooling system coolant is being used to cool the gearbox or engine oil the cooling system of a street vehicle will have a fan or thermo fan to control its upper temperature thus helping maintain the oil temp ;)

Most high performance top end drag cars have the block sealed with coolant and the coolant is returned down the by-pass passage back to the pump to again go around the block. No radiator very limited run time till over heat as Moto said a whole different kettle of fish

I’ve read and re-read the last couple of posts and I have to say it’s not clear what is and isn’t rumour and it’d help to know the source of any information that’s said to be true and confirmed. Just sayin. ;)

Here said it was in the local rag

    Guy’s,

Nudged my raw nerve today when I heard “the rumor” that this may have been some form of mucking around with guns and blame it on “the sniper on the hill” line!! (actual line from Bathurst local rag would you believe!!!!!)

As far as Mal5.1’s post goes I guess thats up to Mal but sounds as though it was local and they dealt with their source as he said
