At work here we make a few of our weekend solitary workers carry PLBs, (personal locator beacons) while worth between $400-$700, this includes the registrationetc and if you activate it, the Australian search and rescue mob are immediately mobilised (after a quick phone call to a nominated rep of yours to ensure it is for real) and the beacon will enable them to narrow your position down to, yep where you are laying on the ground exactly.

    Just food for thought.

EPIRBs? If you happen to have one go missing I’d love a christmas present!

Rat, your soap box rant is a tad silly IMHO. I mean some people are taking less of a risk riding alone than others are riding in a group based on their risk controls so if you’re going to get stuck into strucky you should really put your cape on and take on the world while you’re at it. I think go ahead and point out the obvious risk in it and state your opinion on it but getting stuck into him and calling him an idiot is no different to a greenie saying serves you right for braking your leg and bleeding out while your 15 ride buddies look at each other for what to do under the argument that it is a “stupid” risk to ride a motor bike through tight tree lines.

FWIW I’ve ridden alone twice and both times I compensated to control the risk. I took a demo bike out by myself the other week at Kitchener and took my phone, a GPS, told my wife and the bike shop I’d be in contact within half an hour and always stayed near by the road. I’m not going to claim that I eliminated the risk but we all know of and accept levels of risk in riding and other activities daily.

I acknowledge I’m only a young bull and you might claim I’m being naive but I’m just calling it as I see it and with an open mind.

    Spot on AB well said

Moto a vast majority of the traing riding was done in the 30,000 acre backyard, with closed private tracks and if I dint come around every 30 mins or so the wife would come looking and I would then be found

Listen Dopey you could crash and bleed out within the half hour plus the time your wife takes to find you :( :( Do you mean do as I say not as I do

No pruning needed Moto just put a sticky locked in the tech section, include some clubs and the motorcycle web site and that’s all you really need sort of thing I think. We can update as needed

Well, that puts me in the idiot basket too. I rode to the top of Bago on my own on Sunday arvo to have a sit and think session whilst looking at the awesome view.
I will admit that I was riding pretty slowly looking for single trails that I would normally hoon past. Found a beauty too.

Mick you dont need to post here to go in the idiot basket, although I am suprised theres room with Dave in there. Maybe there is room as Dave should be off learning to add I reckon, 1.2 or 1.1 or whatever and logs to work it out  Sounds like a hell of a fairtale for reading the kids of to sleep to me
