There is bugger all that can be changed over between the two they are that different

The XR600R wasn’t liquid cooled though, just saying.

You fool we are talking about the 650’s, read half a post once and look what happens

The R is the race model as such,
Liquid cooled
Kick Start
Plastic Tank
Bigger forks
More suspension travel both ends

WOW that DR is heavy, but they sort of feel it.
My XR has a claimed factory weight of 125.6kgs USA spec
Mine at work on the digital freight scales weighed 122.7kgs no fuel but all other liquidsI can say mine feels lighter when riding it, Gilli said the same when he rode it in the singles on the western side of the watos, but it feels all the 133 odd kgs (with fuel) when you are pushing its arse out of bogs for sure

Another thing I can do better wheelies when I have the medium 17 litre fuel tank on for some reason and I dont notice the weight difference when that tank is empty or full, its just the sloshing of fuel sometimes when half full and hard braking on stutter style bumps
TB
650R’s are the only liquid cooled XR, any XR Moto

Quote:The software will soon be available to the masses when FI becomes mainstream and there will be other programs that allow you access too. Evryone’s got a laptop these days, if you don’t….tough luck :laugh:Admit it, once sorted the potential for changing settings on the fly is very easy, not that it’s required for all bar the best riders, although I suspect alot will like to play……I would

You are a peanut! The benefits of EFI are more than stopping to hook up a laptop and change your state of tune
I cant type cause I am laughing and shaking my head
To pre answer your next post here Moto, “your right, I didnt consider that, you are the man blah blah blah”

The whole process would take no more than a couple of minutes…..much quicker than messing around with jets etc.

Ummm couple of jets and a screw driver $50 or there about
Laptop, software, cables even if you can obtain the software etc $ thousands

It will also be easier for her to start then a XR250

Quote:That said, other than Husaberg and maybe Husqvarna what changes have Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha or any other major brands made?Honda have EFI on the there X and R, last year was the R only, thats just one I know of, plus there still red and everyone knows red is faster

I dont know Moto if you would have liked one, I think all models had the twin carby setup in the mid 80’s that honda had on the XR 250’s, 350’s and 500’s and as a Honda owner they where a pig of a thing hot, cold and in between. I had two 250’s and they sucked hard core! Great bike when running, when dropped hot and I did it a lot they sucked, cold wasnt much better !!!!

Quote:i did some laps on the 300 version of that model on the weekend. really good. steered a little too well (which is adjustable). had good breaks and i liked the forks.I am surprised you liked the forks champo after all you had to say about conventional forks over the apparently must have upside down ohlins forks at the 4 day at Orange
Its a nice bike Moto and a smart buy, it will be good for her to learn on and as her riding progresses the bike will with her, very good
