    Just my opinion

I don’t have much to comment on grips as everyone is different, I like a soft grip and narrow grip don’t like pillow tops because they are larger in diameter and give me sore hands but that’s just me. I use Scott’s grip glue as well or paint. I don’t like petrol or other such things as they soften the grip to become sticky. It can soften the grip to much and cause it to swell sometimes, that said I know people that use it so whatever. The grip glue holds them it’s only $2 extra and it’s still easy as to remove the grips I find. If it’s on the XR or something that I will ride in real muddy conditions I will wire them as well

yeah,I heard about the knee incedent. Welcome to the club Al, they hurt like hell.Thermoskin knee guards are excellent, I now have 2 as both knees are now shot.

Hey Boony you know they arent a brace designed for bike related injury prevention the twists etc bike riders encounter?

Your welcome, the castle nut just goes in it has no preload you just wind it in until it stops and there is no side movement in the swingarm. Its job is to prevent the frame being pulled in to far if you catch my drift

If you still want to borrow the tool PM me your address

What depth should the inside and outside needle roller bearing sit from the outside of the swingarm? See the above the pics

Are there a gap between the 2 bearings once installed? I think this is where the problem may lie as TB pointed out.
When I installed mine I left whatever gap is there after you set their depths from the outside

    Cheers. HD

Yeah 80ftb, you must have done something wrong unstalling the bearings.

Here is the depth that the bearings go in the swingarm

Credit is also due to Dargo Dan from Dargo general store in the Victorian High Country, who will help ANYONE at all , every time I’ve been their he throws open his workshop door and let’s you make repairs yourself or if your unsure he loves to get in and help you out. He finds accommodation when you need a bed and has 98 octane fuel just for bikes. He’s a great bloke and deserves more credit than I can write :)

Oh yeah another passionate legend that has opened his workshop to me twice, sorry Dan

    Great idea Pete

Steve Smith is a legend, I know him more now on a personal side as well as business. I have sat in the car and listened to him bend over backwards for people’s what I felt were unreasonable requests regarding sales. His charity work and support for Old Bulls is awesome to say the least. Steve’s passion for the sport puts him above most IMO.

I have dealt with Jason Barrett now about half a dozen times he is super helpful, honest, up front, can ride like the wind and a pleasure to deal with every time. There has been some talk about Barretts being a site supporter and I must get my finger out and get the details to Jason. Ask Nick, Deejay etc how helpful Jason is

Nick Dole from Teknik’s has to rate a mention he for me, last Thursday night Nick stayed back after-hours to bail me out as I was getting the Tenere ready for the APC 4 Day ride. Then the worst thing possible (bike preparation wise anyway) happened Friday and he again stayed back doing a big job for me until after 9pm Friday night two nights in a row. He charged me stuff all I felt and seemed as happy as pie to do it. Neither repair was suspension related the man can do anything!

Brian from Team Moto Yamaha at Blacktown is my go to genuine Yamaha parts man. Brian doesn’t bullshit and seems to make it happen, gives me a discount and is fast

Scotty at Sutto’s also, I put Scotty under the pump a lot, put pressure on him and most of the time he comes through. He thinks ahead and when he can learn to tell the difference between Michelin tyres he will be the complete package. Sutto himself is awesome, helpful, has a chat and is always able to offer good advice, held the OBT tyre change night and got right into it doing tyres and demos as well

If anyone has a drama with a site supporter please don’t be afraid to PM me and we can see if we can get it sorted

Yes we are building a WR that Steve is riding it’s in the workshop now. The XR is still getting built a mate of steve’s from the states is riding it in the APC as was always the plan. Progress has been slow with everything going on, the new wheel sets have arrived. The build for both bikes need to hit top gear soon or we will run out of time to build and test. This thread will get busy soon enough

    Ummmmm Bullshit.

That is the reason I was originally gunna slab it from your place and you convinced me that it wouldn’t be much time difference going with Pete via Wisemans, as the Holiday traffic would be hell at Beresfield, if I remember rightly. :S

No real harm done as I did have an Adventure and saw some great scenery. I wore a bit of wife strife when I got home but I am still married so that is all that matters…..

Umm you dont remember rightly, no not bullshit thanks you just f&#ked up ;)

You said first you had to be home by 2pm before I suggested you bypass the end of the F3 that’s why it was suggested
Second you had 4 days to make it known and help plan
Thirdly you should have left earlier
