Great intro Matt and welcome. Yeah plenty of info here some good some bad  I made a couple of small errors or wrong direction when I built my Tenere up but it was early days and there wasnt many around to see what was working.
In the Yamaha forum here there is the 10k and 20k updates for my my bike as we grew together. I am due to do a 30k update now and yeah there has been enough changed for an update  seems at times its never ending but it is a very nice capable bike now.
I am sure you will be happy with yours, I have had mine for 16 months and have enjoyed it no end. I am lucky enough to still have my single trail bike so I get the best of both when time permits. Next year Nick and I are planning a 5 week trip so my adv riding in between will be limited  but we may get down your way on that ride who knows
Will watch with interest on your build and again welcomeTB

Don`t try and scare us all off now
:silly:
Us ADVers might have some fun on the 30 odd crossings to Moonan on Sunday :woohoo:
Hope Boll has his floaties ready, he has to cross `em all twice 😆And if you ride from Moonan to Newcastle with Deejay, Lefty and I you will have about another 45 I reckon. Don’t make this another piss off down the bitumen Eags :pinch: come on mate its an ADV ride finish strong

TB
Ollie the gun jet is a 68s, the 65 is a normal 65 no “s”. Typo from me  That said Nick knocked mine back to a 65 when he played with the jetting. He said they sometimes ran the Safari 650s with a 65
Anway speak with him

Why would it need a top end overhaul, what does that have to do with flaming out into round abouts  The decomp is worth a look but normally only causes a problem when the bars are around or on full lock. What about thinking it out, what did you to it when you started changing all the hoses etc, or fitted the fan. Recheck all that if needed. If not what’s the float level? BTW part number for the 68s jet is
68S Pilot Jet 99105-MBN-0680
Speak with Nick Doyle regarding all XR650r questions Ollie, no one here has fitted cams to theirs and stock is best unless you buy one like mine done properly in my opinion. Hell they go like stink suspension is the key to them, ask Mick and Crash. And better to ride stock, much more useable powerNicks number is 47322626 he knows them inside out mate, has more than likely seen your problem before and can answer the question re camshafts
My opinion only
TB
Great work Nick, I have posted that on a thread on ADV that has a fair bit of suspension chat for the Tenere

Sounds like fun though! From what I can gather and going by pictures etc it sounds like a normal weekend for Boony and Snow except neither them or their shitbox farm implements can chuck a decent wheelie
Well done Moose
