That Big ass tank is 2-3 times heavier than the stock tank and fins empty…

Not picking here Krusty but whats 2 – 3 times heavy really mean, thats your opinion? I have both here, I reckon having just had the two, the steel DR650 tank and the 30 litres huge ass Safari tank in my hands there wouldnt be much difference, but whats much
Would there be much difference between a plastic and a steel tank? The steel is thin, the plastic is thick that would be interesting :)

Bring your DR in trail mode we will weigh it and then try it in ADV mode, what do you think the difference will be, cause any figure I use will be plucked outa my arse

    Lets weigh them

How come we didn’t see the Tenere hit the scales, don’t they go that high. :P

Did you read the thread or just worry about the DR

I said “We will weigh my Tenere and XR 650 and take photos as well” Only so much can be done at one time. I dont care what it weighs  This isnt about brand, or bike or a pissing contest, its just for interest ok so deep breathes people

Now all the claimed specs I have got from the same internerd site and will continue that if I can. Some are given in dry spec some in wet spec ok

All the above bikes have bash plates, all have big tanks, all alloy racks and around the same amount of fuel. The DR650 has racks as well, they only weigh around 2 kilos.

All the ADR gear you talk about couldnt weight 20kilos, after all its only blinkers, wires, speedo and a head light basically

This isnt about brand, or bike or a pissing contest, its just for interest

What about fitting a VSM case saver over the front sprocket. Might save the case in the unlikely event the chain breaks, easier to wash out when it gets really muddy and front sprocket wear can be seen at a glance.

Opps missed this, my opinion sintered. I have sintered on all my bikes front and rear. Yeah sure they wear your discs a bit faster but a set of organic on the rear on a wet muddy day can cost you a disc ;) Sintered dont fade either

Suspension is all out of it now, dropped of this morning will be picked up tomorrow.

We wired a USB charging port into the system and I will add a 12v plug as well and then it’s finished

Thanks to Boulder who turned up to go over a section of the Camerons ride with me his help with the tank fitting was invaluable. And lefty for the 600 degree brake fluid and assistance drinking beers and bleeding braked etc

No he didnt mention the slip streaming  but he did say something about that little incident going to cost you some money getting the Tenere to go quicker

Not a bad effort from a bog stock DR B)

    Ollie

Against a stock Tenere, your point  We joked but mate I won’t be spending any money on making the Terene faster on the bitumen, I don’t need to go faster than 155 kph  (thats all we were doing as Moose snuck past :pinch: ) :P

For your information we did throttle roll ons and drags etc on high country ride in April on the bitumen and learnt that the Tenere and the DR were evenly matched and infact I had the DR up to 100mph on a downhill into Omeo   and I outran Moose in the bendys on his bike passing someone around the outside :P

Back to this project bike I talked Deejay into the DR actually

And from what I hear from reliable sorces is it still will be faster than the Tenere

Reliable  Faster only if he slip streamed me did he mention that the bastard  , yeah he got me ;) man that was fun. Nick watched the whole thing, Moose is fast and sneaky on the black winding roads B) :pinch: we gotto the pub and laughed like school kids it was great

Bollocks as for you and that oil spewing german shitbox, you and it combined couldn’t pass wind :P that score will be settled when are all on the hard packed middle of the road and both Teneres aren’t in the drain on either side of the road waiting for old leaky to catch up

Well Mick the nameless one has his shock at Tekniks now because a spring only holds it up. See I think if my dentist doesn’t start fixing engines I won’t do my own teeth ;)

This one is going full Tekniks why wouldn’t you at just over a grand, both ends revalved and sprung?

That’s coming later in the story Mick
