Welcome to the site, I am surprised Wauchope’s mayor hasn’t got on to you here being that you mentioned rides near Taree and Wauchope is the hub of the world
and near Taree. Ah shit I see you said “fit” riders, that rules the mayor out and 99% of the site members
(me included
)TB
Welcome Wazzup, go the XR 400. We did a ride last weekend at Hampton See here I will run another one in early November on a saturday again.
Get active and get amongst it watch out for the nutters
and laugh at the peanut gallery  :laugh:TB
Daniel at Sutto’s tells me today there will be an announcement soon saying that Reed has signed with Honda.
If this is true he must have seen that light you mentioned earlier in the thread Menace and realised it was the taillight of the Honda in front
Daniel swears its gospel, time will tell I guess

Quad dog or super dog HB?
So we all agree it works  I will put it in my 650 when I rebuild it next year based upon what I had heard about it before and Huskyblokes recommendation

Catch bottle yeah how good are they

What sort of truck do you drive Huskybloke?

Well I have 1 more day left of work and am then of for nearly 5 weeks (bar a little 4 days in Melbourne for a conference
)I will have Krusty’s bike finished on friday arvo, its getting new chain, sprockets, wheel bearings, rear shock spring, grease and pack head set and suspension linkages and fit his new tyres and heavy duty tubes.
Saturday I will finish of the DR650, wheels, suspension, linkages, carby rejet (cheers Lotsa for the heads up) bash plate, foot peg springs, tail light assembly, blinkers fit / rewire and a clutch
Sunday service the Tenere and get the kids bikes ready for 3 days away next week
I need this trip for a holiday

Quote:Read the link, it has an explanation of how it works
30% more efficient ie better than water/glycol at absorbing heat and then dissipating it to the radiator cores/fins.

Yeah Crash read the sales explanation from the sales department it couldnt be wrong
:laugh:I am not disputing the fact that the coolant is very very good but 190 degrees C and components running at that no way. Crash is a mechanic, I do this for a gig and teach failure analysis as well as other mechanical related courses and components just wont do it.
I am not saying the coolant isn’t a good thing and solves overheating like in Huskyblokes example (thanks for a punters honest opinion
) Mal swears by it and Hatto but anything over 120 degrees and the pistons expansion will start causing problems.TB

Think Trailboss mentioned something about the ability to absorb and then dissipate heat. Apparently water is the best at this, although we cant have pure water cos of impurities, corrosion and freezing issues.
And that supposedly is the beauty of Engine ICE, contains pre-mixed distilled water and additive.
190 c  I still cant see it getting that high from experience really, but hey like I said what would I know  I would rather have an engine that didn’t get above 100 or even 95 to tell the truth and ran at 90 c would be niceTB

How much for a cooked Turkey
You need to check that boiling spec Hatto, 200 degs. 200 degrees celsius would be a fair claim to fame as water boils at 100 c there abouts and glycol under 15psi pressure boils around 114 – 117 c in our diesels on the dyno
It cant be 200 fahrenheit either cause thats only 93 c
I am curious as the the correct spec because its bloody good stuff, but I dont think its that good, although as always I could be wrong

Yeah chuck it

Quote:How much is in the tin of ICE??? Also anyone know how much it costs?2 litres, Also anyone know how much it costs
Ring Sutto’s and ask Mal

Its not cheap and if you did as I told you 12 months ago with your bike you wouldnt have boiled it once  and especially if you dont leave it idling for extended periods when its hot

Quote:While your talking to Mal at sutto’s ask him about the coolant in the metal can he sells, I have been using it and have had no real issues, it’s boiling point is up over 200 deg, mal was the one who put me onto it. You don’t add water just this stuff and 1 tin is perfect amount for my 06 450excHatto
Thats the “ICE” coolant

The radiator coolant “Ice” will help but wont stop it, a higher pressure cap will help but wont stop it (and remember the higher pressure will put a lot more pressure on hoses and clamps)The metal wetting agent that Mick mentioned will improve the cooling efficiency of the cooling system but also wont fix it (We trialed it here at work in stationary gensets and there wasnt enough benefit for the cost)
A thermo fan would in all but the most extreme cases prevent it boiling and be the best fix IMO. Check the cost from Mal at Sutto’s, tell him you are a Old Bull.TB
