Some more usable bling and bits and bobs have turned up this week for the Tenere

Firstly as the Tenere runs so lean and I didnt want to spring for a Power Commander yet ($600 AUD) I looked around and found this on another web site and E bay.

    P7300153640x480.jpg

Below is the blokes explanation of the device

Basically the XT660 has a fuel injection set up to run very lean for emission control & this causes a slow running condition on our bikes & makes it uncomfortable to ride at low speeds.

How it works is there are a few input sensors to the fuel injection system which tell the engine management the environment conditions, like how cold is the motor, what’s the air pressure, what is the air temperature, where is the throttle angle.

What I did is to make up a device that connected to the air temperature sender which sends a false signal to the engine computer. I can adjust any degree I want to make the Engine ECU in to thinking that the air temp is colder then it really is & in doing this the bike thinks its cold so richens up the fuel mixture across the whole fuel map range. There is a CO1 setting in our dash which should be set 10 to 15 above the standard setting so make sure you have done this, what I found on the Dyno that is the CO1 does not adjust the fuel mixture once the throttle has opened it then runs on a map & is cancelled. So adjusting the CO1 will only adjust the fuel mixture at part throttle & not across the whole fuel map range.

As I say this is a very basic device & it uses the Yamaha fuel map, other devices like Power Commander can modify the Yamaha fuel map every 250RPM & is far better device but cost over 10 times more. One thing to remember not even the Power Commander can completely remove the surging but these fuel device do make a improvement to the slow riding conditions.

The mod has had 4 upgrades over the past 2 years to it’s present state. The mods are sold with a 30 day money back guarantee, if don’t like it send it back & I will give you back your money. I have sold over 400 fuel mods so far with 99% positive feed back.

1982 model has more power, is faster in a straight line, accelerates to it’s top speed quicker, and arguably has a better rear suspension design.

But it would be silly to deny that the RMZ is quicker on an MX track, but still not a heck of a lot of progress in real world feel or on paper.

Stop drinking the bong water Blue  :P

I looked into it as well Tb and my conclusion is
    make rec rego
    working headlight tailight
Bike to be inspected each yr
    Fully licenced riders only
not a nominal charge but a percentage of full road charge say 50%

these above measures should keep the “craqckheads” away, they won’t bother on their pitties and old Mxers, too much hassle and expense. Only the legit and genuine will bother.

Mrs Cee didn’t raise no fools, think of the ripples and counter ripples always.

But also why discard the idea or the opportunity for genuine users who prefer to use converted MX bikes (like myself) over the softer and homogenised enduro offerings, because of the potential actions of a few losers

Firstly Bruce I have never thought Mrs Cee raised a fool or do now.

What happens when a rec rego bike is involoved in an accident with say, another bike, a bush walker a 4×4 who pays and how then?? So reco rego only in state forests ok, what happens when they are ridden to death and get closed faster because of over use?

So a buddying up and coming MX rider with can purchase a LED lighting kit for my MX bike around $200. (kit can be used on next years bike as well its a one of cost) Then rec rego $50 (its $50 in Vic I think Menace said) and off me and the mates go, ripping and tearing around and around the tracks we make free practice every day, no track hire no entry fees (good value this rec rego) we can even make our own MX tracks (tell me you haven’t seen tracks made in forests already?) Don’t worry about those farms close by (MX bikes dont have good fuel range so our tracks need to be close to our blinged 22inch hi-aces

Bingo, areas get over ridden, state forests are getting pissed soil erosion etc and another area gone. They will flock over the border to you Bruce, they already do but it will be 50 times worse because its cheap to setup, cheap to do and its unlimited and they will think the ride areas will be unlimited, and they wont care. Lets not forget the publicity around the extra helicopters for the injured riders and the unrego’ed guys that take there MX bikes out to ride / practice with their mate that have rec rego and tracks to ride. Dont reckon that wont make the papers. An then there will be the people that will sue state forests because of it

Sorry for arguing the point Bruce, I know there will be genuine people that it would work for but its like saying you are a good driver with a good car and can there for travel at 140kph on the freeway if you get what I am saying. The world works around majorities as wrong as it is, this time I think we need majority rego not rec to save us from ourselves. Costs etc of those regos well who really knows what they are when all the emotion is removed from it

    Cheers

Rec Rego will see the faster demise of our sport. It will allow people that cant be arsed jumping through the hoops to meet rego and license requirements get bikes rec rego’ed rather then buy more crack. It easier to rec rego a bike in Vic then rego right. They will then ride anywhere believing in their crack induced state they are able to because of their rec rego. The remaining few ride areas we have will quickly be lost as these people ride around running into another getting hurt and putting more strain on insurances, the legal system and the medical services. Can you imagine the extra bikes out in our remaining legal riding areas. Rec rego will fill our state forests and ride areas with the bikes and they wont be the people that care about our sport, mark my words. There is NO way I would support a rec rego.

Be careful what you wish for Brucee espically where you ride and live.
