    Hi Trailboss

I`m hoping to join the May 2010 ride. I have just bought a 2002 WRF 250 . I have little practice at starting the bugger as all my riding in the past has been done on two strokes or electric start trail bikes. I am in my mid fourties and keen to connect with enduro riders in my area.I live in Penrith and am dying to get back on the trail. By the looks of things the ride is more suited to bigger trail bikes. Please let me know if I am welcome to join. Cheers. Rod

Hey rodwolhuter as Lotsa is busted up and not riding your in like Flynn. You can share a jerry can with Justo I will get justo to PM you and you guys can sort it out.

Pack a swag, some piss and some tucker to go in the support vehicle and happy days. The WR will go fine and you have a choice of routes on either day

I will update the lists here

I will take what you wrote on board Bruce as I always do coming from a man of your knowledge ;) . I did hear at Finke of two 2 smokers with flaming cans so to speak both packed with roofing batts  I have noted when the two materials are side by side the batts are not as dense as the two stroke packing.

Other then that pack away with whatever Mick as I said before

For the cost (not much ya tight arse  ) I would use the correct stuff as I am told the pink batts dont handle the heat as well and require packing more often. Pack it tight as well mate no matter whatever you use ;)

i thought you were an engineer -more air plus more fuel=more power

Ha ha Rocket your on fire, its a question we all ask ourselves

As far as the running lean thing goes how does it run leaner? It still draws air? It drew air before. It still draws air only cleaner air as it doesnt come from the back wheel area just through the side cover.
We never touched Dan’s jetting when we did his, mine was ok (I was chasing a dead spot) Kiwi’s when I did his on his DR etc etc its just clean air people ;)

Unless its getting a ram air affect which with the XR it isn’t and I doubt on the KTM’s either.

And Yes Rocket I use a different side cover on real wet rides :)

Does anyone know what model bike Geoff Ballard was using?

I saw him pit, and it had conventional forks on it? I always thought he raced a wr450.

It is a WR alright, it has TTR forks in it though. I think it was TB he was talking to and he said that the conventional forks have less flex than the USD’s.

Other way around Mick, USD’s have no flex and either does an alloy frame. You end up with a bike that has no flex great for a supercross or motocross track with berms to rail. There is more to the explanation and it makes sense when explained

Good luck would be suprised if it doesnt leak again

Doesnt it have a bleed screw? Are you saying you have to remove the top cap complete to bleed the air out of your forks?

Day 3 some pics and some thoughts

At this stage I couldnt believe Mal had had all the luck, all bad :( Through all that had happened he continued to smile and plug away at his event like a champion for a first ever race he had taken the big one by the tail. This event was the toughest 4 day we have had for some time in Aus, its the way the premier Australian enduro should be as well.
Donna was so unreal looking after Mal and myself as well she went non stop for the week that the event was for us. It was a big week, it really sunk in on saturday evening while I was washing Mal’s bike what he had done and how well he had done it. Quietly spoken, no fuss, take the hits and just get on with the job sign of a Champion

Medogrocket was awesome this event, he battled sore hands the last 2 days through all this he stayed on his minute day 2 and 3 only to lose a couple of minutes in the work period at the end of day 3 because of a rim lock that wouldn’t play the game. Great effort Tim you are the man I tip my hat to you sir ;)

Thanks to Doona for putting up with me and my ways in the car, for the great feeds you laid out and the packet of picnics you let me eat in about 2 hrs  Those curried eggs sandwiches were gold cheers Don. ( IS DON IS GOOD!! :P )

Right now all thats said he some action from Day 3

Mal in the work period looking super relaxed (at last) we stood there and looked at one another and realised there was nothing to do
