Good stuff Mick

A phone call to Pezz this morning has opened a door and provided me with a back up plan. So hopefully today I should be able to source the parts required for the mighty XLV

Found a manual here
Have found a wrecker with one maybe if their site is up to date here in south Aus

Fancy me seeing this post and getting excited that you had actually found something to help me :pinch: Why would I think that, hope I can return the favour on the weekend, what am I doing? Oh yeah putting your CRF together  Let’s see you wonder about the reliability of your bike in the bush

The cam chain would cut the barrel in half before I got 100kms on that XL of yours I have heard it run  Again it’s just the simple thing about something reliable to lead with eh  I have sent three emails of tonight chasing parts. I maybe able to run it without the pump but figure it will only use about 3litres of fuel via gravity before the level gets lower than the carbys hence them building it with a pump
Maybe set something a little wild up tank wise, need to speak with Steve it’s not mine to cut and shut as he wants to restore it one day.
Am going to post up on a few forums to track down some partsTB
Nickj wrote:Doesn’t scrapheap mean theirs a chance it won’t make it and that’s the challenge ??That Super Tenere looks far to good !!

Yes Nick well done, you must just look silly   As the guy leading the ride, pre running the route and looging it I need a bike, you find a fuel pump for a XLV and I will ride the sucker all day everyday. I am limited for time to get it going and test it, I should have started earlier although I can leave yours in pieces and do the XLV
Nah cant find parts I have spent hrs tonight searching for one, look into it all the forums say “parts hard to come by” I figured the Super Tenere would be more in theme than my Tenere eh :blink:TB
Actually Mick after this evening and finding a bit more wrong with the XLV then we thought there may have to be a change. I need enough time to get parts which seem to be a problem  get it going and make sure its reliable which is important if I am leading  It needs a fair amount of wiring repaired and at least a fuel pump which is seized  The fuel tank has some fairly big issues and it as a weird fuel tank switch in the top of it and some wild hose routing which I don’t know what goes where as I didn’t pull it apart. I will try and track down some parts, Steve has lots of contacts so I maybe able to get it going. It needs blue slipping and rego.
Failing all that if I cant get a reliable ride from it in the time before the ride maybe I will have to get something else from the shed

Anyway the Honda first, wish me luck

Brake clean is better for removing brake dust, oil, grease and generally doing brake conponents Boony. it is brake clean after all. It will do a clean carby well but to remove the wax and varnish left by stale old fuel you are better off using carby cleaner.
Try Valvoline “Heavy Duty Carb & Throttle Body Cleaner” or Loctite “Pro-Strength Varnish Remover”TB

I’ve found the best way to fix fuel supply problems is to turn the throttle more.
Some good vids Crash.
The more I turned it the deeper it bogged. I went to all the trouble of changing a plug in 110% humidity only to find out that my fuel cock was plugged. I switched to reserve and problem solved.
Wish I had tried that first :blush:STM
Yeah I know King, its just funny the way we posted it above  Hey maybe it was plugged in this video as well

*STM did actually have a plugged fuel cock at Wauchope on Sunday
Its not free Rocket, labour and bike repairs are the exchange rate

pete the wulf wrote:bugger :pinch: he could have swapped wheels with my XR as i only use mine for training and not riding,
my heat shield went ages ago but i never thought of putting foil on it :laugh:PTW
Please explain Pete? Train? do you have a rear wheel you want to swap, would save me some work I could get it picked up. His wheel isn’t that bad now I have got 99% of the movement out it’s just bad if you are going t ride around Australia
